(7) RESEARCH

My research is largely directed at evaluating, from a range of perspectives, diverse aspects of UK housing policy. Much of the research has been commissioned by government or other policy making bodies and focuses upon policy at the national level.

At the intellectual core of my research are the analysis of the rationale for, and nature of, housing policy and the rationality of (regulatory) intervention in housing markets. A major strand of my theoretical work, in collaboration with Professor David Cowan of the School of Law, seeks to take an interdisciplinary approach to the analysis of contemporary housing issues by combining the characteristic preoccupations of housing studies and socio-legal studies.
