4. Research Grants
a. Grants in progress
o D-43 Fogarty research training grant in non-communicable diseases. I am a member of
the multidisciplinary team and serve as mentor. Grant for 4 years by NIH for the amount
of $863,000. A certificate program and a Masters program in clinical research were
launched through this grant in 2012. Role: I participated in writing the grant proposal and
currently serve as a faculty mentor offering seminars and supervising students’ projects.

o Postdoctoral fellowship award by the Cardiovascular Nursing Councils of the European
Society of Cardiology and the American Heart Association, May 12, 2008 for research at
the University of California San Francisco. Grant amount $14,000. The grant requirement
was to do research activities with a mentor. I developed a proposal for a study that I
conducted in Lebanon in 2009 and wrote manuscripts.

Project was supported by 2 grants from the American University of Beirut: Medical
Practice Plan grant # 116010034007. Amount is $8,500.00 and University Research

primary investigator (PI), overseeing the whole study from proposal preparation, data
collection and analysis, to manuscript writing and revisions.
