Community Level: - A consultant Ophthalmologist and Retina specialist providing eye care service at Al-Bahar eye

hospital including out-patient clinic, laser, and surgery at tertiary care eye hospital ( Al Bahar hospital ) serving all Kuwait.

- Initiated The National Diabetic Retinopathy Screening Program Project in September 2001

using Digital Fundus Cameras to Screen for Diabetic Retinopathy in Kuwait.

During the above project 2 publications and one submitted paper were produced (please refer to my publications):

1. Efficacy and reliability of fundus digital camera as a screening tool for diabetic

retinopathy in Kuwait. J Diabetes Complications.2003; 17: 229-233.

2. Retinopathy in newly diagnosed Type 2 Diabetes mellitus. Med PrincPract 2005; 14: 293- 296

- The founder of Diabetic retinopathy screening program 2003 ( in association with other

members of Kuwait diabetes association).

Initiated & supervised mass screening program for Diabetic retinopathy in Kuwait.

The program was sponsored by Awqaf public foundation.

Twenty five digital fundus cameras were placed to cover Kuwait geography.

After 5 years since the program started the rate of end – stage diabetic retinopathy complications declined significantly in Kuwait.

-- Lecture to the public in Arabic titled “ Diabetes and the eye, how to preserve your sight” given at the national diabetes day. 2003. Kuwait diabetes association. Kefan. Kuwait.

- Educational booklet on Diabetes and the eye in Arabic distributed to the public (Free copy).

3. Professional achievements: Founder & CEO of Kuwait Specialized Eye Center ( KSEC ) Established in 2014 with vision to provide world class comprehensive eye care for Kuwait and the region. State-of-art design and equipped with latest technology to provide unparalleled eye care. For the past 2 years It became the busiest eye care provider in the country. In addition to eye care the institute provides high standard Ophthalmology education and training courses to eye doctors as well as research. A research Lab was established within the institute with a focus to the development of new surgical instruments.

Lab (2 hours) to the Fourth year medical students (all year students ~ 100 students)
