2007 Boys and Girls Club of Greater Lansing – The Boys and Girls Club

of Lansing’s mission is to inspire and enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens. In an age of difficult challenges for youth and families, the work of the Boys & Girls Club of Lansing has enabled us to become one of the major stabilizing influences on the youth of Lansing. The Boys & Girls Club of Lansing is widely recognized as the premier agency serving youth from disadvantaged circumstances.

2004 Hands on Memphis – Hands on Memphis creates, manages, and

leads hands-on projects that positively impact the lives of people in need in our community. HOM works with dozens of local non-profit agencies, community groups and neighborhood associations. Whether large or small, HOM provides our partner agencies with managed, planned monthly programs led and filled by committed and trained volunteers.

2004 Memphis Most Wanted – Volunteer organization established to

receive tips leading to the arrest and capture of criminal that are wanted by the police for crimes in the Midsouth.

2003 Youths for Excellence - Pontotoc Second Baptist Church has

recognized the need to acknowledge our youths of excellence, through whom the community takes pride and comfort in knowing that established leaders in various fields volunteer their time to train our children in the skills and knowledge that will be needed for future success.

2003 Minorities in Medicine Seminars – This program is sponsored by

Delta C.L.A.S.S. HIPPI, The Delta Studies Center, and the Iota Nu and Sigma Gamma Zeta Chapters of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. The seminars are directed toward high school seniors and college freshmen interested in pursuing a career in medicine bringing “seasoned” professionals together to fellowship with these interested students.

1998 Senator Roscoe Dixon’s Kitchen Cabinet (Assistant Director for

Health) - a Saturday morning breakfast meeting and brainstorming organization that involve community leaders in the process of governing. For years Senator Dixon has encouraged inner city residents and economically disenfranchised groups to use the basic elements responsible for economic growth in America as a means of local community economic development.
