Teaching Interest

Mentorship and teaching is one of the strongest drivers for my pursuit of a faculty position. I believethat an interactive classroom with periodic small group discussions will leverage my strongly Socraticstyle of teaching, I find that the art of guided discussion helps to drive the concepts deeper and dra-matically improves audience engagement. I extend this guided discussion approach to advising interns, masters students, PhD students and Post-Docs. This allows me to organically evolve my impressionof the student while discovering their core drives and goals. Given my very broad international collab-oration network and computer science and laser industry ties, I can help promote them along a careertrajectory that is genuinely matched for the whole person.

Research Interest

I intend to use ultrafast optical control to induce coherent molecular motion that will imprint moleculespecific time-domain signatures onto measured results. We will then use these time-signatures to corre-late multiple experimental techniques, namely soft x-ray spectroscopies, hard x-ray diffraction, ultrafastelectron diffraction, uv-vis absorption spectroscopy, and ion and electron time-of-flight spectroscopy. We will thus more effectively constrain theoretical results by requiring simultaneous agreement acrossall the techniques. Furthermore, we will build up an increasingly more comprehensive chemical struc-ture and function library to be used for training a machine learning approach to physical chemistry.
