Items 6A.4 (CPSC-40A), 6A.5 (CPSC-40B), 6A.7 (ELCT-40A), 6A.8 (ELCT-40B), and 6A.10 (ELCT-40D) were pulled by Dee Near. Dee stated that the assignments required the students to do written assignments on computer literacy, but the Library section on CurricUNET is blanked. Bill Walls agreed and thought we addressed this at Tech Review. It was agreed to add the standard statement “Library books, periodicals, and databases” to the Library section on CurricUNET.

Items 6A.5 (CPSC-40B) and 6A.8 (ELCT-40B) were pulled by Dee Near. Dee noted that the textbook is dated 2008 and will cause problems with articulation. Bill Walls stated that there is a new addition and believed it was 2014. It was agreed that Bill will give Julie Clark the updated year after the meeting.

Item 6C.1 (BUS-18A) was pulled by Dee Near. Dee stated that the faculty are requesting ENGL-85 and BUS-10 be added as prerequisites, but questioned justification. Dee stated the 3 universities provided required ENGL-01A instead of ENGL-85 and none required BUS-10. Dee went on to think this had to do with a C-ID requirement. Julie Clark brought up the C-ID descriptor for BUS-18A and it does not require any prerequisites. Julie went on to explain that Karen Fritz wanted to add an English prerequisite and thought ENGL-85 would be sufficient. Denise Rempel advised that transfer courses should use ENGL-01A as a prerequisite. Julie reminded everyone that this course is a CTE course and is due for review every 2 years, so that Karen can try ENGL-85 for 2 years and decided to increase it to ENGL-01A at the next review. Julie went on to explain that we do not have a policy on validating prerequisites within the discipline so that is why BUS-10 is allowed.

Welding Technology Learning Community The Welding Technology Learning Community provides program majors with a fast track completion model of two semesters with an effective cohort enrollment scheme. It is comprised of courses that focus on skillsets needed for entry level employment in a welding industry. Additionally, the cohort enrollment structure provides opportunity of infusing employability soft-skills across the cohort which can substantially boost one’s chances of success within an internship and/or job upon completion of the program. (1) DRFT-44 (Print Reading and Sketching) (2) WELD/MECH-06 (Fundamentals of Oxy-Fuel Welding and Shielded Metal Arc

Welding) (3) WELD-07 (Fundamentals of TIG and MIG Welding) (4) WELD-40A (Introduction Welding Design and Construction) (5) WELD-40B (Advanced Welding Design and Construction) (6) WELD-46 (Advanced Arc Welding Procedures)

Dee Near stated that these Learning Communities resembled the sequencing used in

the TAACCCT grant. Dee went on to inquire if these are for Fall 2016 and will we see the second half of the sequencing coming through for Spring 2017. Aaron Hamilton stated that these Learning Communities are to reflect the sequencing they did with the TAACCCT grant and that they will be putting the second half through for Spring 2017.

13. BUSINESS A. Information: Where do we stand for Summer 2016 and beyond.

Julie Clark stated that today’s meeting (December 3rd) is the last day for items to take effect Summer 2016. Julie also reminded people that items that have to go to the Chancellor’s Office for approval must still be approved before they can go into effect.

Julie Clark went on to state that the college as a whole is at 97.9% of courses being in Title 5 compliance. Cohorts 1A, 1B, 2B, 4A, 4B, 4C, 5A, and 5C are all at 100%. While Cohorts 3A and 6 the only courses out of compliance are courses they plan to inactivate but require program modifications to be approved first.

Dee Near stated that at Instructional Council meeting on Monday Edward Modafferi talked about combining several programs together to do one program review. Dee questioned how is that going to be possible when today is the deadline for Summer 2016. Julie Clark stated she is not completely sure what Edwards plans are and that this topic of conversation will continue into the Spring 2016 semester.

B. Information: 2015 CSU-GE and IGETC Breadth Submissions

Julie Clark provided the committee with a list of all the courses that were approved to go into effect Summer 2015 that Lou Ferguson will submit for CSU-GE and IGETC Breadth.
