WILDFIRE ACTIVITY
• January 29: Fire Weather Watch issued for Dawson,
Furnas, Gosper, Harlan, & Phelps counties.
– Conditions did not warrant a Red Flag Warning.
• February 21: Red Flag Warning issued for most of
central and eastern Nebraska.
• February 21: Wildfire south of North Platte, with large
mutual aid response. Estimated 15 acres burned.

• January 16: NHIT activated for tanker overturned near McCool Junction.
• January 18: News media reports fatality in Grand Island & hospital treatment of responders, from unvented gas heaters (carbon monoxide).
• January 18: Truck carrying hazardous materials crashes east of Chappell. No spill of material observed.
• January 28: Hydraulic oil spill from loader at Cargill.
