Good Governance DayContext-:

On the Birth anniversary of former Prime Minister

Atal Bihari Vajpayee, also celebrated as good

goverenance day, Prime Minister Shri Narendra

Modi launched Atal Bhujal Yojana (ATAL JAL) and

named the Strategic Tunnel under Rohtang Pass

after Vajpayee.

Good Governance Day is observed in India

Good Governance Day was established in 2014 to

honor Prime Minister Vajpayee by fostering

awareness among the Indian people of

accountability in government.

In keeping with this principle, the Government of

India has decreed Good Governance Day to be a

working day for the government.

On 23 December 2014, the ninety-year old former

Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, and Pandit

Madan Mohan Malaviya (posthumously) were

announced as recipients of India's highest civilian

award for merit, the Bharat Ratna, by Indian

President Pranab Mukherjee.

सरकार में जर्ािदेही के र्ारतीय लोगो ं के

िीच जागरूकता िढाकर प्रधानमंत्री

र्ाजपेयी को सम्माबनत करने के बलए 2014

में सुशासन बदर्स की स्थापना की गई थी।

सरकार ने सुशासन बदर्स को सरकार के

बलए कायभ बदर्स के रूप में घोबित बकया है।

बदसंिर 2014 को, नबे्ब र्िीय पूर्भ प्रधानमंत्री

Following the announcement, the newly elected

administration of Prime Minister Narendra Modi

established that the birth anniversary of the former

Prime Minister would be henceforth commemorated

annually in India as Good Governance Day.

What is the meaning of Good Governance-:

Good Governance refers to the term that describes,

how public institutions can manage and conduct

public affairs and public resources in a favored way

for development.

Governance is the process of decision making and

further its implementation.

घोिणा के िाद, प्रधान मंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी के नर्

बनर्ाभबचत प्रशासन ने स्थाबपत बकया बक पूर्भ

प्रधानमंत्री की जयंती को र्ारत में प्रबतर्िभ

Rohtang Tunnel

Context-:

On the birth anniversary of former Prime

Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on Wednesday

(December 25), Prime Minister Narendra

Modi said the Rohtang Tunnel, which will

connect Manali in Himachal Pradesh with

Leh, Ladakh, and Jammu Kashmir, will be

known as Atal Tunnel.

The tunnel is expected to be ready for an

official inauguration by September 2020.

Why Atal Bihari Vajpayee-:

The decision to construct a strategic tunnel below

the Rohtang Pass was taken by former Prime

Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Vajpayee was a

regular visitor to Manali and took a keen interest in

the project during his tenure.

About tunnel-:

Upon completion, the 8.8 km-long tunnel will be

the world’s longest highway tunnel at an altitude

of above 10,000 feet (3,000 metres).

It is a 10.5 m-wide single tube, a bi-lane tunnel

with a fireproof emergency tunnel built into the

main tunnel itself.

सुरंग के िारे में-:

पूरा होने पर, 8.8 बकमी लंिी सुरंग 10,000 फीट

(3,000 मीटर) से अबधक की ऊंचाई पर दुबनया

की सिसे लंिी राजमागभ सुरंग होगी।

यह 10.5 मीटर चौडी एकल टू्यि है, एक बद्व-लेन

सुरंग है बजसमें मुख्य सुरंग में ही अबिरोधक

आपातकालीन सुरंग है।

The 10.5-m width includes a 1-metre footpath on

both sides.

Vehicles will travel at a maximum speed of 80 km

per hour inside the tunnel.

Up to 3,000 cars and 1,500 trucks are expected to

use the tunnel every day.

Benefits-:

The strategic tunnel would change the fortunes of

the region, and would help promote tourism.

Cutting through the mighty Pir Panjal range, the

tunnel will reduce the distance between Manali

and Leh by 46 kilometres, and save crores of

rupees in transport costs.

It will also provide all-weather connectivity to

remote border areas of Himachal Pradesh and

Ladakh, which otherwise remained cut off from

the rest of the country for about six months.

The project has significant strategic implications

for the military. Once the tunnel is operational,

the forces will have access beyond the Rohtang

Pass even in peak winter.

ATAL JAL has been designed with the principal

objective of strengthening the institutional framework

for participatory groundwater management and

bringing about behavioral changes at the community

level for sustainable groundwater resource

management in seven States, viz. Gujarat, Haryana,

Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan

and Uttar Pradesh.

to 2024-25), 50% shall be in the form of World

Bank loan, and be repaid by the Central

Government.

Good Governance Index

Context-:

Good Governance Index launched by MoS (PP)

Dr Jitendra Singh on Good Governance Day.

Objective-:

The objectives of GGI are to provide

quantifiable data to compare the state of

governance in all states and UTs, enable

states and UTs to formulate and implement

suitable strategies for improving

governance and shift to result oriented

approaches and administration.

संदर्भ-:

सुशासन बदर्स पर MoS (PP) िॉ। बजतेंद्र बसंह द्वारा

शुरू बकया गया सुशासन सूचकांक।

उदे्दश्य-:

जीजीआई के उदे्दश्य सर्ी राज्ोंऔर

कें द्रशाबसत प्रदेशो ं में शासन की तुलना करने के

बलए मात्रात्मक िेटा प्रदान करना है, राज्ोंऔर

The GGI takes into consideration ten

4). Public Health,

सुशासन सूचकांक राज् सरकार और कें द्रशाबसत

प्रदेशो ं द्वारा उठाए गए बर्बर्न्न हस्तके्षपो ं के संचालन

की क्तस्थबत और प्रर्ार् का आकलन करने के बलए

GGI दस के्षत्रो ं को ध्यान में रखता है:

indicators separately, at the same time

composite ranking is also calculated for

Insider Trading

Context-:

The SEBI on Tuesday came out with a new

mechanism to reward whistle-blowers and other

informants for sharing information about insider

trading cases.

New norms-:

Under the new framework, it would be

mandatory to disclose the source of

information; besides, confidentiality regarding

the identity of the informant would be

protected.

सेिी मंगलर्ार को इनसाइिर टर े बिंग के मामलो ं की

जानकारी साझा करने के बलए सीटी-ब्लोअरऔर

Insider trading is the buying or selling of a publicly

traded company's stock by someone who has non-

public, material information about that stock.

छूट देने की क्तस्थबत में इनाम बदया जाएगा।

Insider trading can be illegal or legal

depending on when the insider makes the

trade.

It is illegal when the material information is

still non-public.

Material information-:

Material information is any information that

could substantially impact an investor's

decision to buy or sell the security.

Non-public information is information that is

not legally available to the public.

अंदरूनी सूत्र व्यापार अरै्ध या कानूनी हो सकता

है जो इस िात पर बनर्भर करता है बक अंदरूनी

सूत्र व्यापार करता है।

QRSAMContext-:

Quick Reaction Surface to Air Missile (QRSAM) system

has been successfully flight-tested from Integrated

Test Range, Chandipur off the Odisha coast.

Background-:

The QRSAM is a missile developed by DRDO along

with Bharat Electronics Limited for the Indian

army.

In 2007, the proposal of QRSAM was launched as a

replacement for Osa-AK and Kvadrat missile

systems.

About QRSAM-:

Quick Reaction Surface to Air Missile (QRSAM)

system has been developed by the Defence

Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).

The missile is equipped with indigenously

developed phased array radar, inertial navigation

system, data link and radio frequency seeker.

QRSAM का पहला परीक्षण 2017 में

आयोबजत बकया गया था।

इससे पहले, अगस्त 2019 में QRSAM

बमसाइल परीक्षण बकया गया था।

QRSAM के िारे में:

रक्षा अनुसंधान और बर्कास संगठन

The missile uses uses solid-fuel propellant and

has a range of around 25-30 km.

The missile is an all weather weapon that is

capable of tracking firing with precision.It is

also capable of engaging in multiple targets.

Other surface to air missile(Aakash)-:

Akash is a medium range Surface-to-air missile

with multi-target engagement capability with a

strike range of 25 km, developed be DRDO.

It can reach an altitude of 18 km and can be

fired from both tracked and wheeled

platforms.

बमसाइल का उपयोग ठोस-ईधंन प्रणोदक का

उपयोग करता है और इसकी रेंज लगर्ग 25-30

बकमी है।

बमसाइल एक सर्ी मौसम का हबथयार है जो

सटीकता के साथ फायररंग पर नज़र रखने में सक्षम

है। यह कई लक्ष्ों में उलझने में र्ी सक्षम है।

The missile is capable of neutralizing

advanced aerial targets and in striking down

enemy fighter jets and drones effectively.

बमसाइल उन्नत हर्ाई लक्ष्ों को िेअसर करने

और दुश्मन के लडाकू जेट और िर ोन को प्रर्ार्ी

ढंग से मार बगराने में सक्षम है।
