Step 1: Symptoms of OCD

Figure 1. The symptoms of obsessive compulsory disorder (OCD)

As illustrated in figure 1 people suffering from OCD experience thoughts they

hear in their mind containing various ideas that cause the person mental pain

and agitation. These thoughts can be categorized in the following categories:

1.Ideas of Harm: A person hears ideas in his or her mind telling him to hurt

himself and others, like for example telling him that this life is not worth living

so why don’t you kill yourself. Also ideas telling a person to hurt others by

physical and verbal abuse giving him numerous arguments convincing him

that his actions are correct.

2.Ideas of Lust: Where a person hears ideas in his or her mind telling him

perverted sexual ideas and scenarios, in addition to hearing filthy words

repeated over and over again in his mind.

3. Ideas of Blasphemy: Here a person hears ideas in his or her mind insulting

Allah (God) directly or indirectly by convincing a person that Allah (God) has a

son and wife in addition to other false arguments. In addition to thoughts

telling a person distorted ideas about Islam which is the only religion

acceptable in the sight of Allah (God).

Step 2: The cause of OCD

Figure 2. Knowing the cause of OCD rom The guidance of The Quran

If we ponder upon the verses of The Quran which is the last revelation of Allah

(God) to people we know the only cause for OCD such that if we compare the

symptoms experienced by people suffering from OCD with the symptoms of the

effect of Satan on each and every person we find a perfect match between the

two as illustrated in figure 2.

So we can conclude from the perfect match between the symptoms of OCD and

the symptoms of the effect of Satan on people that the only reason why people

experience thoughts of harm, lust, and blasphemy is Satan and not a

malfunctioning of the human brain and in order to understand this further we

need to understand how does Satan affect each and everyone of us.

How does Satan affect each and everyone of us?

Allah (God) teaches us in one verse in The Quran the manner by which Satan

affects each and everyone of us and this verse is the fourth verse of chapter 114

which reads:

3

Page 4: Curing OCD in 3 Steps from The Quran

From The Evil of The Whisperer who Hides(The Quran 114: 4)

Such that we learn from the above verse that Satan affects everyone of us by

whispering (i.e. by talking) to us and at the same time he hides from us, so the

question arises as to how can Satan talk to a person and at the same time hide

from him (i.e. a person not feeling the presence of Satan)?

The only logical answer for the previous question is that Satan matches his voice

with all regards such as tone, style, language, etc. to the voice a person hears in

his mind when he or she is thinking quietly to him or herself. In addition it

should be stated that we learn from The Quran that everyone of us has a

companion devil that is assigned to a person at birth and stays with a person till

death and this companion devil affects us by matching his voice to a persons

own voice which he or she hears in his or her mind.

An example to explain the above point is the following:

When a person leaves his house in the morning and gets into his car he hears a

thought that pops up in his mind telling him that he forgot to lock the door of his

house and as a result of this his house will be robbed and thus a person gets

agitated and confused. The one who whispered to the person in the car is his

companion devil matching his voice to the voice a person thinks with and hears

in his mind and telling him such thoughts to cause the person mental pain and

agitation (i.e. mental disturbances).

Step 3: The Cure of OCD

Figure 3. The Cure of OCD from The guidance of The Quran

If we ponder upon the verses of The Quran we can find the cure for mental

disturbances including OCD which we now know that is only caused by Satan.

The cure of OCD can be found in verse 168 of chapter 2 of The Quran shown

above.

Where we learn from the above verse what to do when we experience a thought

from our companion devil such that the first thing to do is to realize that the

thought a person just experienced containing ideas of harm, lust, and blasphemy

is from Satan and not from himself and the second thing to do is to disagree

with what Satan is telling a person in your mind as Allah (God) states in the

above verse (do not follow the footsteps of Satan).

So according to the guidance of The Quran the cure from all mental disturbances

is to realize that the thoughts experienced in ones mind containing harm, lust,

and blasphemy are not from the mind of the person but from a person’s

companion devil who is an enemy of that person and then to disagree with these

thoughts and not carrying out what Satan is telling a person.
