More adaptable:
CUPLOK® can be used to create a huge range of structures -for construction, refurbishment or maintenance.
Façade scaffolds Loading bays Birdcage structures Curved structures Shoring structures Staircases Mobile towers
Hop-up brackets allow the easy installation of work platformsat 0.5m increments above or below the main deck givingbrickwork and other finishing trades the flexible access theyneed without disruptive adaptations to the main scaffold.Platforms can be created using boards, battens ormodular decks.
For over 30 years, CUPLOK® has been the world’smost popular system scaffold. A fully galvanised,multi-purpose system, it has been chosen bycontractors on many of the world’s largest andmost complex construction and maintenanceprojects.
Faster
CUPLOK® has been proven to be significantly faster to erectthan traditional scaffolding in most applications. Thousands ofcontractors around the world have converted to CUPLOK®
because they found it faster and simpler to erect, savingthem time and money. When we asked our customers howmuch faster they thought CUPLOK® was compared to tubeand fittings they told us between 30% and 50%.
Why CUPLOK®?

CUPLOK®
CUPLOK® scaffold system
Simpler
CUPLOK® uses minimal loose fittingsor wedge connectors and standardhorizontals are used as ledgers, transoms and guardrails. Once thebase lift is set out and levelled, theremaining structure is automaticallyaligned.
Specially designed components allowthe easy creation of cantilevers, insideplatforms and staircases, whilstguardrails are automatically aligned atthe correct height.
Lighter to store and transport
CUPLOK® tube is 20% lighter thannormal tube and is palletised for easymechanical handling and efficientstorage both in the yard and on site.CUPLOK® is so robust that delays dueto damaged components are almostunheard of. It is also less likely to getlost or stolen from site.
Safer to erect
CUPLOK® has safety built-in, as it iserected to a recognised configuration ina carefully developed sequence which
facilitates adherence to the Work atHeight Regulations 2005 at everystage.
The security of the CUPLOK® nodepoint fixing is not dependent on brutestrength.
Safer to use
CUPLOK® scaffolds provide clear, uninterrupted working platformswithout obstructions from diagonalbracing across the deck in themajority of cases. Accessories suchas staircases and ladder safety gatesensure safety when movingbetween levels.
Genuine CUPLOK®
CUPLOK®’s success has caused theproduct to be widely imitated with copyproducts claiming CUPLOK®
compatibility. Only CUPLOK® comeswith our exhaustive quality assurance. It has comprehensive technical support, product liability assurance andaccreditation under the NASC Code ofPractice. Don’t take the risk, insist ongenuine CUPLOK®.

Important: As with all scaffolding,CUPLOK® should only be erected bytrained personnel.
3
CUPLOK® complies withBS EN 12811 and BS EN 12810
DIN Accreditation Safe Working Loads on platforms will
vary between 0.75kN and 3kN persquare metre depending on theconfiguration of the scaffold
Maximum heights and tying-in
The maximum height to which aCUPLOK® structure can be erected isdependent upon a range of factors.Examples of the most important are:
The vertical distance between tiedpoints on the verticals
Whether foot ties are used The lift height Wind loading Whether it is sheeted or netted
The CUPLOK® locking procedure
The CUPLOK® locking device is formedby fixed lower cups, welded to thestandards at 0.5m intervals, and slidingupper cups which drop over the bladeends of the ledgers and rotate to lockthem firmly into place.
This revolutionary node point makesCUPLOK® extremely fast and simple toerect. Once a CUPLOK® structure is‘based out’ and levelled, subsequentlifts are automatically erected squareand horizontal.
 Whether cantilever platforms/hop-upsare used
Leg loading The position of the top tie relative
to the top of the scaffold
Details for typical layouts are shownin the CUPLOK® datasheets, user’smanual and user guides which areavailable by [email protected]
To ensure safe erection, alterationand dismantling of scaffolding it isimportant that a safe method of workis followed
European regulations require thatwork at height is properly planned, organised and carried out bycompetent persons
For scaffolding work this wouldinclude those who design, procure, supply and erect the scaffolding

ApplicationsCUPLOK® scaffold system
CUPLOK®'s versatility and wide rangeof accessories make it an ideal systemfor almost any situation - from simpledomestic building projects, to the mostcomplex access and support structures. Its ability to follow curves and complexprofiles make it equally suitable formany industrial maintenance situations.
Curved structures
CUPLOK®'s ability to allow ledgers tolock into the standards from any anglemeans that the system is ideally suitedto curved structures. With simplevariations to the normal arrangement ofledgers and transoms, both internal andexternal curves can be created by usinga combination of rectangular andtrapezium shaped bays. See page 20.
Staircase towers
CUPLOK® staircase towers incorporatespecial staircase components within aconventional CUPLOK® tower to createa safe, user-friendly access solution andare quick and simple to erect. Staircasetowers are rapidly becoming the mostpopular option for access on site.See page 12.
Access towers
Square or rectangular access towerscan be erected with standard CUPLOK®
components using either jacks andbase plates or bespoke CUPLOK®
castor wheels to give full mobility. Theworking platform can be formed usingeither scaffold boards or battens. Safeaccess is created by the use of aseparate ladder bay with a safety gategiving access to the work platform.
Loading bays
The basic loading tower uses aconventional 2.5m square CUPLOK®
tower with additional specialcomponents to strengthen the platformenabling it to support heavy, palletisedmaterials which can be forklifted orcraned directly to the working platformlevel. See page 18.
Support structures
CUPLOK® is widely used to createfalsework support structures. Its highleg load capacity and range ofcomponents give the system thecapability to tackle virtually any supportapplication. For formwork support, awide range of grid variations can becreated to suit the loadingrequirements and the decking system.See page 21.
Horizontals
5
Verticals (standards)
All CUPLOK® standards incorporatelower fixed cups at 0.5m intervals withcaptive rotating top cups which secureup to four components. Accessstandards incorporate a 150mm spigotat the top to allow the verticalconnection of further standards.Provision for a locking pin or bolt is alsoprovided.
Base/head plate
Used in conjunction with the universaljack. The spigot is drilled to allow for theinsertion of a securing bolt if required.
Horizontals (ledgers and transoms)
All ledgers and transoms incorporatesymmetrical forged blade ends makingassembly quick and simple, and allowscomponents to be completelyinterchangeable. Horizontals locate inthe bottom cups of the standards andare secured by locking the top cup.
2.5m horizontals provide the basicbay length in a CUPLOK® accessstructure. This is a suitable bay sizefor all common access loadingconditions
1.8m horizontals provide a make-upbay size for added flexibility
1.3m transoms support a five boardwide platform. This transom can alsobe used as a ledger for extra flexibilityand to create corner returns withoutoverlapped boards
 Normal horizontals also act asguardrails
Universal jack
Universal jacks have an adjustmentof up to 0.5m and are used toaccommodate variations in groundlevels and to level the structure. They are used in conjunction withbase/head plates and forkheads.

Curved and circular structuresCUPLOK® scaffold system
Circular structures
CUPLOK®'s ability to allow ledgers tolock into the standards from any anglemeans that the system is ideally suitedto curved and circular structures -without the requirement for specialcomponents.
With simple variations to the normalarrangement of ledgers and transoms, both internal and external curves can becreated by using a combination ofrectangular and trapezium shaped bays.(Trapezium shaped bays incorporateinside and outside ledgers of differentlength).
Further details on the construction ofcircular structures can be found in theCUPLOK® user’s manual or by [email protected]
Layout of ledgers and transoms
As two ledgers or transoms can befitted into the same cup at less than90 degrees to each other on curvedstructures, inside and outside ledgersand transoms cannot all be fitted at thesame level. This requires certainamendments to normal CUPLOK®
layouts:
On scaffolds forming an outsidecurve, locate the outside ledgersabove the deck level to form thehandrails
On scaffolds forming an inside curve, move the inner ledgers down by0.5m in alternate bays
Construct trapezium shaped baysusing the shortest possible ledgersas intermediate transoms cannot beused
If larger trapezium bays are inevitable, thicker boards should be used
Decking on circular structures
The work platform can be created usingscaffold boards or specially cut battens. To create a continuous working deckusing scaffold boards, someoverlapping is inevitable. To avoidcreating safety hazards, please observethe following procedures:
All boards should be laid in line withthe run of the scaffold
If rectangular bays with intermediatetransoms are used the boards overthese bays must form the lower ofthe two layers
The overlapping boards of the upperlayer should, ideally, be cut to give aneat edge and fillet pieces nailedacross the ends to prevent a triphazard
Further details on the construction ofcircular structures can be found in theCUPLOK® user’s manual.
