In its seventeenth year, CultureFest is an annual event celebrating the Culture, Heritage, and Diversity of Springfield, Ohio. The festival is presented by the City of Springfield Community Development Department in partnership with the Human Relations Board. It is funded by generous contributions from individuals and businesses throughout the community.
CultureFest is a true example of community. Each year, over 200 people volunteer to assist in CultureFest preparations and presentations. The CultureFest Steering Committee, led by Co-chairs Clara Copeland and Rita Jones begin meeting in October of each year to discuss plans for the upcoming festival. Countless hours of work are donated each year by committee members.
Thousands of visitors dine at the global table and experience the world in one afternoon year after year at this annual celebration. The 2013 Festival is focused on minimizing waste. Please use recycle bins when appropriate. If trash cans, or recycle bins need to be emptied, tell a volunteer. Thank you for spending your day celebrating diversity and doing your part for our environment.
If you would like to learn more about CultureFest planning, would be interested in being a vendor, or would like to be a part of the volunteer corps for 2014, contact the Community Development Department at 937-324-7380 or join the CultureFestSpringfield facebook community.

More information is available at dba.center-city.orgCelebrate the joys of the holiday season at Springfield’s spectacular Holiday in the City 2013. Located in the heart of downtown Springfield, Holiday in the City activities take place inside the Heritage Center, on City Hall Plaza and along Fountain Avenue. Santa arrives in grand style to visit with children in his wonder-filled Santa Land. The grand illumination, which officially lights the community Christmas tree and downtown buildings, is followed by a dazzling fireworks display that will set holiday spirits soaring.
The Springfield Farmers Market has been connecting local farmers, food producers, and artisans with area residents since 1826. Held each Saturday from June through September, the market is located in Market Alley next to the Heritage Center.
Downtown Sounds is a free lunchtime concert series held every Wednesday during the summer on City Hall Plaza. Local performers volunteer their time and talent, with musical styles including Celtic, R&B, country and Christian. The Buck Creek Bash is a true adventure sports celebration and competition hosted each fall by Friends of Buck Creek. The event features the grueling Paddle and Portage race. Participants can be sure these competitions are unlike anything they have ever seen. Adventure sports in its natural setting, that just happen to be in Springfield’s urban core. If competition is not your thing, come watch the others suffer, while you enjoy eco sports in an urban setting!
