    CULT ZINE

    SUMMER 2015nO. 3

    a letter to our readers:

Happy Summer and thank you for sticking with us!

Considering the busy and typical life stresses of the KAB collective, we decided to do our zine, seasonally. Which would be way awesome, because well have bet-ter content that is more meaningful. (ie: actually maybe offensive, funny, scary, weird, things you wont understand because it might be too avant-garde, but its okay..this is an art read) :P .

As youll notice from our last two (AND ONLY) zines, there is growth and a whole new thinking approach.

We decided to run this zine and opening it to anyone who wants to submit work through our Facebook group (its secret ) please send us your work or your interest to:

    [email protected]

We are now an online comunity of artists and writers that collaborate into one publication. Hurray for us!

    THANKS AGAIN,K.A.B.

  • MATTHEWFLORIANIThe aesthetics of my arts deflect the imagery of individuals hiding behind who they are and where they come from. In my work, I deconstruct people on the streets in which we conceive as insignificant to our lives. Masks, face coverings, and despon-dent glares are portrayed to represent these aes-thetics as well as the way we look at the public as objects rather than human beings. The usage of patterns depicts old and rather tattered clothing, which creates a balance of melancholy and poverty, such as my use of newspaper illustrating filth on the street and the poor. Most of the newspaper articles that I work with are from the funny pages, as an ironic look at societies paucity.

I currently work with acrylic paints, ink, spray paints, stencils, wheat pastes, screen prints, mixed media, signs, and wood. These mediums and matri-ces display more rustic, meager, and stylistically approachable works of art, which illustrates symbolism of the street.
