Why is the reinstall needed?

CUCM prior to 8.0(2) was not supported on VM. As such, the CUCM installer was VM OS unaware

Partition alignment is critical to VM performance

Reinstall aligns the partitions

TAC will not support unaligned partitions


Jump release doesnt need licenses for interim versions

Install the migrated license on Enterprise License Manager 9.1(x) during Unified CMs 60 days demo mode

The migration utility does not show any installed DLUs on my UC Manager.

When trying to install a license file, I get the error message stating The license file cannot be validated because there is a problem with its security certificate

I have not purchased licenses for analog devices in the past now UC Manager requires Essential licenses installed.

I dont understand the License Count Utility Report. How do I determine the number of licenses I will get following license migration.

The legacy licensing information is not available. Licensing will use the MAC address and the License Count Utility output from pre-upgrade

There is an issue with the registration of the ELM. Contact [email protected] for reissuance of your license file.

Essential licenses were RTU certificate only licenses in the past. For migration into 9.1 Essential licenses will be issued for what is required. UCSS/ESW true-up will be required at the time of the next contract renewal.

Submit the LCU output to [email protected] (include CCO id). This will create a licensing case and licensing will respond back with the number and type of licenses to be issued.


Know your inventory and purchasing history

Know your plan for post upgrade (i.e. growth, migration to CUWL, UCSS purchase, etc.)

Assign users to devices (Owner User ID) prior to upgrade and license migration

Know your preferred deployment model

Gather required information prior to running the utilities


ELM License Migration Utility will collect this information:

License Count Tool (UCT) output

Entitled UCSS/ESW contract number(s) or proof of purchase of a version upgrade

Email address(es) to send license and software support contract updates

ELM generated License Request

MAC address/Licensing MAC from existing publisher server(s)

Number of Public Space Devices

The customer will still need to provide the following:

Site information (name-all name permutations, City, state, country) for contract update

ELM License Migration Utility generates an email to send to GLO at [email protected].

Use device inventory and user counts :

Provide device inventory (qty of each device type)

Provide planned user counts (users with no features, users with mobility enabled)
