Welcome to the Power EliteThe 2009 CTS-V takes power in the Luxury High-Performance Sedan segment to a whole new level.CTS-V engineers used the BMW M5 as the benchmark in the class. As a result of their efforts, the CTS-Vestablishes the new benchmark with best-in-class horsepower, torque and 0-60 mph time. In fact, theCTS-V punishes the competition in nearly every track measurement.

Supercharging Technology The CTS-V LSA engine features the latestsupercharging technology with the EatonGen 6 Supercharger which combines peakperformance with refined power.

The supercharger compresses air to helpmove more volume into the intake manifoldthan a normally aspirated engine. As the airis compressed, it becomes heated.

Before reaching the intake manifold, the airpasses through an intercooler to help createa denser charge entering the combustionchamber.

More dense, cool air in the combustion cham-ber means that additional fuel can be added tothe mix, providing enhanced power withoutcompromising fuel economy.

Supercharging allows the 6.2L V8 to achieveits impressive horsepower and torque numbersand provides CTS-V with a wide, flat powerband that’s useable at all rpm levels.

Twin, 4-lobe rotors help create a smoother, more efficient flow of air into the engineand provide the added benefit of virtuallyeliminating supercharger noise.

The supercharger design helps minimizeparasitic power loss.

Two Sophisticated TransmissionsFor the first time, the 2009 CTS-V offers twotransmission options to help broaden the appealof the vehicle. A Tremec TR-6060 6-speedmanual is standard on every CTS-V, and the 6L906-speed automatic is optional.

for a production sedan with stock tires on theNürburgring (7:59 minutes).

The automatic is electronically speed limitedto 175 mph.

Driveline Robust driveline components are designedto handle the engine’s torque.

A heavy-duty cast iron Limited Slip Differentialprovides for optimal launches and strikes theright balance between excellent high-speedstability and low speed maneuverability.

The heavy-duty propshaft has been stiffenedand is 70mm in diameter.

SKF racing bearings at all four corners helpprovide confidence inspiring braking.

Asymmetrical hollow half shafts—55mmleft/35mm rear—help reduce resonancebetween the two shafts, thereby eliminatingpower hop.

In the manual mode, the 6-speed automatic’s upshifts and downshifts can be controlled through the center consoleshifter or via paddle shifters located on the back of the steering wheel.

6-Speed Automatic A 6L90E Hyrda-Matic transmission is designedto optimize the torque output of the LSAengine and features two overdrive gears.

Driver shift controls allow the driver to switchthe automatic to clutchless manual mode.

Upshifts and downshifts can be controlledthrough the center console shifter or viapaddle shifters located on the back of thesteering wheel.

A 32-bit control module provides superbprocessing power.

Performance Algorithm Shifting (PAS) allowsthe driver to choose Sport shifting mode, which determines if the car is being driven ina sustained performance manner and will forcedownshifts and hold lower gears to create theoptimized shift pattern.

PAS is so precise it allowed the CTS-V toachieve one of the fastest times ever recorded

SOPHISTICATED TRANSMISSIONS

6-Speed Manual The Tremec TR-6060 6-speed manual withshort-throw shifter is based on the T56 usedin the previous generation CTS-V.

The TR-6060 has been upgraded with heavy-duty gears to handle the LSA engine’s torque.

A dual disc clutch system provides exceptionalshift feel and helps reduce clutch pedal effort.

Two overdrive gears add cruising comfort andhelp improve fuel economy.

Fine pitch teeth synchronizers help reduceshift travel for a refined performance feel.

Dual reverse synchronizers provide easy shift-ing into reverse.

With the manual transmission, the CTS-Vachieves a top track speed of 198 mph.

PaddleShifter

Delivering Performance DrivingCombine an incredibly fast reacting suspension, extremely capable Brembo brakes and road-grippingMichelin Pilot Sport PS2 tires, and CTS-V does exactly what you want it to, when you want it to.

Next-Generation Magnetic Ride Control (MRC) MRC uses a network of sensors to read the road every millisecond and adjust shock dampinginstantaneously based on road inputs.

When the system requires added damping, like during hard cornering or acceleration, an appropriatemagnetic charge is applied to the proper shocks.

Iron particles suspended in the shock fluid align under this magnetic charge and stiffen/soften theshock absorber.

MRC eliminates the use of mechanical valves and provides a much quicker reaction time versustraditional shock dampers.

The system also looks at driver input like acceleration, steering and braking and makes pre-emptiveadjustments to damping for an even quicker reaction time.

Driver selectable, fully independent Touring and Sport modes optimize the suspension calibration fora touring or performance ride feel. The control button for MRC is located on the center stack.

Brembo Braking Components State-of-the-art braking components from Brembo help CTS-V’s braking power match its acceleration speed.

In the front, the rotors have been upsized to 370mm, approximately 15mm larger than the previousgeneration CTS-V, and feature 6-piston calipers.

The rear brakes are 365mm in diameter and include 4-piston calipers.

Both front and rear rotors are slotted and vented to help dissipate heat and reduce fade.

A co-cast disc design in the front features a cast-iron braking surface and an aluminum hat, combiningthe heat-resistance of cast iron with the lightweight properties of aluminum.

An electric parking brake features a control switch on the center console and allowed engineers toinclude a dead pedal in place of a traditional parking brake pedal.

Optional Brembo track performance racing brakes (with red calipers) will be available later in themodel year.

Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 Tires Specially developed Michelin Pilot Sport PS2tires were custom developed for the CTS-V.

255/40 front and 285/35 rear Z-rated tiresprovide superior lateral and longitudinal gripand excellent wet traction.

19" forged alloy wheels are standard, whileforged polished wheels are an option. Bothwheels feature a 10-spoke V design and areengineered to help reduce mass.
