    Overview

The X would like to build a university-wide collection that will provide theory, resources, examples, and training for faculty to develop online, hybrid, and flipped learning environments; the collection should be developed such that it is accessible to a broad range of disciplines, faculty, and pedagogical approaches.

    Objectives

Discovering appropriate formats to reach faculty is our biggest challenge. STEM faculty, for example, appreciate real use cases presented by their colleagues, and to be provided with guiding principles. This is a unique opportunity for Xs Center for Teaching and Learning to:

Develop materials that will be useful and accessible to the X community and beyond

Inform CTL staff and X faculty about pedagogies and technologies for hybrid, flipped, and online learning, and the underlying research on which they are based

Orient users towards the models of teaching and learning taking place at X, and towards emerging national trends

    Format

    TBD

Discovery, Plan, Produce, Review, Release, Revise (add proposed dates)

    Executive Notes:

Step 1 Research: Synthesize the environmental scan. What is the ontology/ make site maps of what a CTL page looks like at other CTLs? Maps and Screenshots (April 8, 2015)

Step 2 Discuss: Meeting to agree on features of resource sharing (spring 2015, mid-April) Step 3 Plan (Collect): produce form to submit pages from current website or list of materials that could be shared (summer 2015) Step 4 Organize selected existing resources (summer 2015) Step 5 Plan (Develop): New Resourceswhat resources dont we have that wed want to make? (after site launch, ongoing/ TBD)

    SWOT Analysis

    Strengths

A diverse and large number of experienced and qualified staff who have successfully partnered with faculty and developed resources across numerous disciplines using a vast array of technologies and formats

    Opportunities

To develop new methods and formats for engaging X faculty to advance teaching and learning

To build partnerships with other campus centers

To grow awareness of faculty needs for teaching and learning in untouched areas of the campus

    Weaknesses

Faculty at research institutions are unlikely to have time or interest in the types of resources and workshops that are traditionally offered by CTLs nationwide

    Threats

Campus centers may want ownership to develop the resources and training for modules that are in-demand for specific disciplines (i.e., digital humanities modules for humanities faculty)
