    MethodVelocity Test

Configure bow to launchrod at 50mph

Shoot rod verticallydown into tube against arock

Shoot rod horizontallyinto smaller tube againsta rock

    Method

    Gradual Displacement Test

Apply force to containedrod until it is displaced a

    set amount of inches

    Calibration of bow

    At 50mph (73.3 fps) rod should travel 41 ft ( = 2 )

Rod is at initial height of 60 in To achieve this distance, bowstring pulled back 20-21 in Guide tube set up against a rock to simulate bottom of well or

    concrete shoe

    Conclusions

    Velocity Test

    Whole rod buckles,bottom is permanently

deformed while reststraightens out Test 6 had smallest radial

    clearance, could beaccurate representation

    Gradual Displacement Test

    Permanently deformednear top where force

    occurs Due to friction force

    creating lockup
