COURSE DESCRIPTION AND OBJECTIVESThe SAR 2016 Annual Scientific Meeting and Educational Course represents the Society’s major educational endeavor, which brings together outstanding educators for a program highlighting:

• Use of new and emerging technologies in the imaging diagnosis of abdominal and pelvic pathology• Problem solving for common issues in abdominal and pelvic imaging with practical solutions• Extensive small group workshop presentations allowing registrants to individualize educational content

The course format utilizes didactic lectures, general interest presentations, panel discussions, technical displays and interactive workshops in a mix that optimizes the educational opportunities for registrants. The Scientific Paper Sessions will be open to all Society members. Numerous educational and scientific posters spanning all aspects of abdominal imaging will be available to all course participants for study throughout the meeting. Designed primarily for radiologists in practice and in training, this course will also benefit all physicians who care for patients with gastrointestinal and genitourinary diseases.

At the conclusion of the course, registrants should be able to:1. Apply the most up-to-date and practical information for imaging diagnosis and intervention in common abdominal problems

2. Appropriately implement new and emerging techniques in abdominal and pelvic CT, MR, US and PET

3. Successfully manage common problems encountered in performing everyday abdominal examinations

4. Understand the newest topics and results in clinical research in abdominal radiology

WORKSHOP AND SELF-ASSESSMENT MODULE INFORMATIONWorkshop sessions will be offered Tuesday and Thursday in a small group format. The program offers 169 workshops covering a broad range of practice management, and abdominal and pelvic imaging topics. Continued this year is an Essentials Workshop Track: GI Topic – Luminal GI Tract and GU Topic – Urinary Imaging. The goal of this track is to give participants a comprehensive overview appropriate for maintenance of certification in GI and GU. Between the 2015 and 2016 meetings, 13 GI and 13 GU topics will be covered. Special workshop tracks are identified by a coding system detailed within the brochure program in order to simplify your workshop selection process.

The Self-Assessment Modules (SAM) presented in this activity on Comprehensive Image-guided Intervention for the Abdominal Radiologist, Imaging of the Acute Abdomen in Pregnancy, Mastering the Hepatopancreaticobiliary Tumor Board, Pancreas Update: Emphasis on MRI, and Renal Tumor Imaging, Biopsy and Therapy have been qualified by the Society of Abdominal Radiology in meeting the criteria for self-assessment toward the purpose of fulfilling requirements in the ABR Maintenance of Certification Program. If you wish to register for a SAM, you must submit a fee of $35 for each SAM, even if you do not wish to receive SAM credit. This fee covers the production costs associated with the SAMs.

HANDS-ON WORKSHOP INFORMATION

The CT Colonography Hands-on Workshop is comprised of intensive and supervised review of at least 50 CTC cases, an initial demonstration of the normal colon, and an extensive review of the appearances of polyps and cancers with tips provided for problem-solving and analysis of pitfalls. An introductory Basic Training - Buttonology session will be held on Sunday, March 13; two essential 30-minute lectures will follow. Hands-on training on individual workstations will be conducted Monday, March 14 and Tuesday, March 15. The workshop will conclude with a testing module including 10 CTC cases on Wednesday, March 16.*

This workshop would not be possible without the support of GE Healthcare, iCAD, Philips Healthcare, Siemens Healthcare, Viatronix, and Vital Images.

The MRI Techniques of the Prostate Hands-on Workshops will include state-of-the-art lectures and hands-on case review. Participants will benefit from practical case studies and open discussions amongst participants and experts. They will also have the opportunity for hands-on interaction with various post processing computers. In order to maximize the opportunity for participation, this workshop will be offered for both beginners and advanced learners in two separate sessions on Monday, March 14.*

This workshop would not be possible without the support of Invivo.

The Advanced Female Pelvic MRI Hands-on Workshop is a case-based workshop focused on adnexal mass characterization, endometrial and cervical cancer MR imaging. Participants will benefit from independent and expert guided review of cases on provided workstations for optimal learning. They will also have the opportunity for practical and open discussions amongst other participants and experts.*

The Dual Energy CT Hands-on Workshop will provide registrants a dedicated lecture series and hands-on training on vendor specific workstations highlighting Dual Energy CT capabilities and how to establish Dual Energy CT in your practice. Seven 35-minute lectures will cover practical Dual Energy CT workflow, applications in abdominal imaging, and solutions to logistical hurdles. In a separate 3-hour session, registrants will receive hands-on supervised instruction on problem solving individual cases to improve Dual Energy CT image diagnosis.*

The Advanced Small Bowel Imaging Hands-on Workshop is designed to provide a comprehensive overview of US, CT and MR techniques for the evaluation of small bowel disorders with focused lectures on the clinical rationale for and benefits of imaging, interpretation and nomenclature. Following a targeted workshop track of six introductory lectures, registrants will receive 4 hours of hands-on review of case material with Q & A of cases including technique and interpretation. All participants of this workshop must bring a laptop or tablet with internet capabilities to participate.*

In order to receive the discounted member rate for the meeting, a completed application for membership must be received by Friday, January 29, 2016 at 5 PM CST. Visit the Society website for additional information about becoming a member.

* Online registration will close Friday, February 26, 2016 at 5 PM CST. After this date, attendees must register on-site and pay on-site registration fees.

Verification of Resident, Fellow, Technologist, or Student status must accompany registration. Fees must be in U.S. Dollars only, drawn on a U.S. Bank. Reservations may be made conveniently online by following the link provided on the Society’s website at www.abdominalradiology.org. You may also make your reservations by phone at 1-808-886-1234. When calling, please mention that you will be attending the SAR Annual Scientific Meeting and Educational Course in March of 2016.

The deadline for the group room block is February 12, 2016. Reservations received after this date are guaranteed at the group rate, however, they will be confirmed based upon availability. It is possible that hotel rooms and/or specific categories may sell out prior to February 12; therefore it is strongly recommended that you make your reservation as early as possible. Room rates are available three days prior and following actual meeting dates, subject to availability.

The daily resort fee has been waived, and complimentary fitness center access, self-parking for guests of the hotel, and high speed internet access have also been negotiated for SAR attendees. SAR attendees will also receive discounted valet parking at $12 per day.

Children 18 years or younger may occupy the same room as their parents at no additional charge. The hotel will also provide one rollaway bed per room for children 18 years or under, at no charge, if required.

A two night room and tax deposit will be required to book your accommodations. Full refunds will be issued if guestroom reservations are cancelled 14 days or more prior to the scheduled arrival date.

Check-in time is after 3:00 pm. Check-out time is 12:00 noon.
