OC 1200OVERVIEW OF GE OPTIMUM CURRENT (OC) TECHNOLOGY

The Optimum Current (OC) concept was first suggested by Thorn Lighting (now GE Lighting) as a method of improving the efficiency of entertainment lighting fixtures in 1990. At that time although the lamp/luminaire improvements were achievable, the facilitating electronics were considered to be the roadblock.

Since then electronic technology has improved, competition with discharge products has increased, and with the introduction of affordable power MOSFETs, and dual voltage chips, interest has reawakened.

Two companies, Selecon in 2000 (Theatre), and Amptown (Moving Light) in 2003, have announced fixtures which use the OC1200 (order code 91580), the first commercially available Optimum Current lamp from GE using this concept.

OC lamps can be designed to be future safe and be suitable for any later Infra-Red recovery options.

Other types are available or can be designed to meet a specific OEM requirement.

OC TECHNOLOGY REPRESENTS A SIGNIFICANT PERFORMANCE GAIN FOR HALOGEN
