If we combine all the states in India at least half the year will be the festive season and the mother of all festivals is round the corner . Yes , its Diwali time and since our governments had officially admitted that our economies are on a slow path I am not sure if we will have a much spirited and a sweeter Diwali this time around. The trade , especially the manufacturing sector is on a slumb and it’s a bi product of demonetization and an under prepared GST. These were not easy and small reforms at the first place. In fact I would like to call it revolutionary reforms and when you try to implement such critical reforms that could change the dimen-sions of your country’s economy a thorough study and preparations were needed. Now, by the look of it nothing was done and both appears to be nefarious schemes. GST was on air for longtime and therefore the governments should have prepared well for it and they had the time on their side. Now the damages are done and it’s more of a correction process. I hope the administrators now realize that the people of India are in a state of aberration and therefore the work of repairs should be on a war foot so that we not only will have a happy Diwali but our economy will get back on the right track before it collapses and hit a full recession.Wishing all the readers a very Happy Diwali

US-based JP Morgan Global Maritime has been linked to a purchase of two secondhand Cape size bulkers. The company allegedly entered into agreements to buy Cartigny and Chevrier from Swiss Marine Services SA.Once the transaction is completed, the 182,000 dwt ships will be bought for USD 44.8 million each, according to information provided by Intermodal Shipbrokers. The agreements also include three-year bareboat time charters for each bulk carrier, with daily rates of USD 17,000.Built at Japan Marine United shipyard in 2016, Cartigny and Chevrier have market values of around USD 41 million, Vessels Value’s data shows. In June, JP Morgan Asset Management raised USD 480 million from insurers and pension funds aimed at investing into distressed shipping assets. The fund sparked considerable interest as the shipping sector proved to be one of the sluggish sectors that abounds in cheap assets.

Do you know the name of a flower which will bloom only once in 12 years. My topic is about the place where this flower blooms and also it is this place I like the most. Yes, It is none other than Munnar - The heaven in Gods own Country. There were times I used to explore Munnar atleast once in a month and never used to get bored visiting this place. There are lot of places to visit in Munnar. Maybe most of you have not visited Munnar and for this reason, I would like to give you some information about the highlights and happenings in Munnar.Munnar – The name itself means the three rivers – It is the merging point of rivers namely Mudhi-rapuzha, Nallathanni and Kundaly rivers. The picture perfect town, with its winding roads, small water-falls, serenity of tea gardens and the feel of exotic fragrance of spices everywhere makes Munnar the most sought hill station in South India. Mid of November to February is considered as the best time to visit Munnar since the weather is cold and pleasant. The temperature during this time of the year drops to -4 degree Celsius as recorded and is perfect for a vacation of different experience. This is also a great time for adventure enthusiasts who can enjoy adventure activities like rock climbing, trekking, paragliding etc. June to September is the monsoon season in Munnar and even though many tourists avoid Munnar during the monsoons, as per my view, this is the great time to visit the hill station if you’re looking for a quiet vacation and to enjoy the nature to the fullest. This is also a great time to negotiate for good discounts on hotel tariffs and other activities like boating, Elephant safari, Horse riding, shopping etc and enjoy Munnar all to yourself. I would like to suggest 2 places in Munnar that you should never miss on your trip.1. Rajamala – As told in the beginning, this is the place in Munnar where a flower will bloom only once in 12 years. The name of the flower is called – Neelakurinji. Previously it has bloomed in 2006 and next year which is 2018 is the 12th year. It is expected that by next year August, all the Neelakurinji flowers will bloom and it is a real experience to witness the Rajamala hills covered with these Neelakurinji flowers which is in violet in colour. Just imagine, the hills covered in violet colour. Now itself, people have started to book hotels and resorts and hence hotels have increased their tariff by two fold and three fold. In 2006 when it has bloomed previously, huge crowd came to Munnar to see this wonder of Nature and has been recorded at about 8 lakhs people came during that season which is about 9000 people a day on an average. Next year about 10000 to 11000 people per day are expected during the season to witness this magnificent Neelakurinji blooming.2. Eravikulam National Park - This national park is the most sought-after tourist destination in Munnar. This is mainly because this park is the home of Nilgiri Tahr or called as Varayadu in Malay-alam which is an endangered species of Goat and have only 2600 nos left as per 2010 statistics. Government takes utmost care to protect this species of Goat. This animal can only be seen here in this world. Eravikulam National Park is also famous for its rich flora and fauna cover. A large number of rare migrating birds, animals and butterflies can also be traced in this park. It offers a magnificent view of tea plantation and the surrounding hills caressed by blanket of mists. Only 1500 people in a day are allowed to enter this park and have their own transportation arrangement to travel through this park. This arrangement has been made by the government to avoid any disturbances from the public to the endangered species. There are numerous other places in Munnar which is also the must visit like Mattupetty which is known for Indo Swiss Livestock Farm Project and a dam, Marayoor known for its sandalwood trees and jaggery manufacturing, Top station where you can witness clouds moving below where you are standing, Devikulam, Kundala Dam, Chinnar wildlife sanctuary, Silent valley, Echo point, etc are to name a few. But due to space constraints, I’m stopping my words. So, pack your bags, put on your travelling shoes and gear yourself up for an amazing trip to Munnar.

An unemployed engineer graduate was looking out for a suitable job in his stream. He attended several exams and many personal interviews, only to be rejected. Being fed up after so many months of his job hunt, he decided to get into any job that can satisfy his food and daily needs. He visited a circus group and asked for a job. But the owner said that there wasn’t any job for his education level. Also he said that there is a vacancy to act as a monkey and perform funny actions. The unemployed youth accepted the offer since he can at least afford his daily food. So he dressed up as a monkey and entertained the audience. One day while he was performing the monkey skills, he accidentally fell into the lion’s ring. Everyone was shocked as the monkey fell into the lion’s ring. No one knows that he was a man dressed up as a monkey. The man himself was dreadful and feared for his life . He felt pity for himself as he was going to be a victim of unemployment. The lion came closer to him but he didn’t attack. He was surprised . The lion whispered “ Arre Abdul …..Ghabra nakko

“STO

NE

SOU

P”Hello Readers , I came across this article by Princess Haya Bint Al Hussein . A glimpse into the impact of hunger severely affecting a child’s future .The fable dates back to the early 1700s has many different cultural versions, but the essence of the story remains the same; a hungry traveller passes through a village, but finds people are unwilling to share their food. He asks for a pot, which he fills with water, places a stone inside and puts it over the fire. The traveller tells the curious villagers that the stone soup is delicious, but would be even better with some herbs to garnish, a potato or a cut of beef.Gradually, everyone puts something into the pot, until the traveller declares the magnificent soup is ready and removes the stone — he then shares the soup with the villagers.I was really touched by how relevant the message of this fable, first told 300 years ago, still is today. I wonder how many starving people there were in the world when the stone soup fable originated? Did they see the same tragic disparity that we see today between those who have enough to eat and those who have too little? The sad fact is that today one in nine people in the world are undernourished. The moral of the stone soup story teach-es us the importance of individuals coming together to make something significant from lots of small contributions. It is also about sharing and giving to people less fortunate than ourselves. There are two sides to malnutrition. On one side, there are people worldwide who eat too much, and on the other side, those who do not have enough to eat. We have never seen this before in the history of mankind.Of course, there is no one underlying cause of hunger, just as there is no quick fix solution, but when statistics show that there is enough food worldwide for everyone, I cannot help thinking that we are just not very good at sharing. But it is easy to feel paralysed by the enormity of the task at hand — how can an individual make a difference to the millions of people ravaged by hunger around the world?I have never experienced extreme hunger but I have seen, at first hand through my work with the UN World Food Programme, how frightening and debilitating it is. It won’t go away overnight, but I truly believe that if everybody made a conscious effort to share a little more and make a small contribution, we could reduce the malnutrition that afflicts 300 million children today. As the American author Helen Keller once said, “Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.”Children’s fables such as the stone soup story can teach us all a valuable lesson in reviving the dying art of sharing with those less fortunate than ourselves. And maybe children can be the ones to help us learn these lessons?Children look at things in a very simple, honest way. Their perspectives are not distorted by overly complicated analy-sis, nor are their judgements clouded by the distortions of some politicians and corporations.Children’s actions are direct and immediate — tell a child that somebody is hungry, they will simply say “give them something to eat”. We spend so much time teaching our children how important it is to share, and granted this is an essential life lesson, but it saddens me greatly as a mother and a United Nations Messenger of Peace, to see that we still need to repeat that message, and strongly, to feed the world’s starving children. For me, the stone soup story goes beyond the simple act of sharing food — we know that the story ends with a delicious and nourishing pot of soup enjoyed by all. The villagers’ stomachs were filled and so too were their souls, all through the simple act of enjoying a shared meal with friends and family. Food created a sense of community. This is still true today. For example, in the Arab world, the family meal plays a very important role in bringing everybody together.During the holy month of Ramadan, we spend our days preparing the Iftar meal to be shared with friends and family, and we are taught to give to the needy.Seriously malnourished children experience this less than we do — and when their basic needs go unmet, they never grow to have the mental and physical capacity to succeed. Nor do they feel the same love, sense of togetherness or emotional bond that sharing meals with family brings.I want to make an urgent plea on behalf of the millions living with chronic hunger: 1) Stop waste. Make a conscious effort to reduce food waste in your own home — whether reducing the amount you cook, or simply buying less at the supermarket. 2) Share. Spend five minutes researching a food donation programme in your area, and give what you can — whether it is food, money or even your time — it will not go to waste. 3) Remember. Do not forget the story of the stone soup, and how a small contribution can go such a long way to helping those in need.Mother Theresa said it best when she said, “We think sometimes that poverty is only being hungry, naked and home-less. The poverty of being unwanted, unloved and uncared for is the greatest poverty. We must start in our own homes to remedy this kind of poverty.”

Benevolence: Princess Haya continues to work tirelessly in helping the United Nations meet its goals, especially those of reducing poverty and hunger.
