Web Design CSC 452 fall 2014 University of Illinois at Springfield Instructor: Chris Haupt Email: [email protected] Cell: 931-266-8668 CSC 452 - Web Design Learn basic principles of web design and use HTML, XHTML, XML, CSS (Cascading Style Sheets), design and critic a variety of templates, etc. Topics include elements of good design, fonts, and typography, how to use color, graphics, images, multimedia formats, web layout basics, tackling web navigation, accessibility and usability, web design software, and learn HTML, XML, and CSS. Course Information: Prerequisites: CSC 275 or equivalent computer programming experience. TextBook: HTML and CSS Eighth Edition, Author: Elizabeth Castro and Bruce Hyslop, ISBN-13: 978-0-321-92883-2 Prerequisite: CSC 275 or equivalent computer programming experience Format: Students will use the Blackboard to access lectures, assignments, Tests. The code used in the textbook will be provided in Blackboard Lectures: Will consist of video lectures and possibly notes The video lectures will be provided for most chapters. Materials: You will need the Textbook and a PC/Mac Computer. Optionally, you can install the IDE NetBeans. I will be using NetBeans, but installation of this software is not required. You are free to use whatever HTML editor you wish. Grading:Assignments: Points will be designated when Assignment is givenMid-Term Exam: 50 pointsFinal Exam: 50 pointsParticipation: 5 extra credit points will be given at my discretion

Total Points: There will be Approximately 300 points total between the assignments and the tests. I’m planning to have about 10 assignments. The last few assignments may be combined into one Project

All assignments are due on the due date specified in the assignment description. Late assignments may be penalized 15%.
