cPouta

Infrastructure As A Service (IaaS)– Deploy your own virtual machines/storage/network– Similar to Amazon EC2, MS Azure, Google Cloud– Windows and Linux supported

Powered by OpenStack– We do a lot of integration / customization

Allocated from Taito supercluster– Powerful CPUs, lots of memory, fast disk

Simple to create and modify VMs– WWW, CLI & REST API interfaces

cPouta VM flavors

https://research.csc.fi/pouta-flavourshttps://research.csc.fi/taito-supercluster#1.1.2

• Server-class Xeon E5 (Sandy Bridge) CPUs• 2*8 cores, 2.6GHz

• Connected with 40Gbit Ethernet

cPouta Use Cases

Running applications– Custom Operating System

Windows, Ubuntu, Debian, Scientific Linux jne.

– Root/admin access needed for installation

Building custom services – Web servers, file servers etc.– Software Defined Infrastructure (DevOps)

Rapidly deploying dev/test/prod environments

Development in 2015

cPouta development– Instances for non-compute intensive tasks– Docker (LXC) support

New ePouta service– Organizational customers– Tunneled to customer network (OPN/VPN)

A virtual extension of the datacenter

– Raised VAHTI security level

Services for data-intensive computing– Hadoop, Spark, Ceph etc.

ISO27001:2013 security certification

ISO27001:2013 certification

Reflects our commitment to security– Risk management– Leadership– Technical security & documentation– Continuous Improvement– Disaster recovery planning– Building security into the culture

CSC ICT services and datacenters– Sisu and Taito at the moment– Cloud being certified in 2015

Datacenter CSC KajaaniCSC’s modular Datacenter in Kajaani is built in the Renforsin Ranta business area, a former papermill site. The Datacenter is placed in an old paper warehouse over a hectare in size. For the first phase of CSC’s Datacenter a 3,000 m2 area is reserved. Due to its modular design the Datacenter can be easily expanded in the future.

At first, CSC’s new supercomputers and other CSC’s customer systems is placed in Kajaani. CSC’s new resources offers plenty of computing capacity.
