March V31 version
Endcap Integration Workshop: June 11-14, 2001 10
Shipping ContainersShipping Containers
– stacks of 5 boxes (easily re-stackable)– chambers are assembled and tested with electronics:
• once cover is taken off, one can connect and readout all electronics without extracting a chamber
– HV and Gas connectors accessible without opening boxes:• test for gas leaks• test for broken wires and HV disconnections in air• test dark current at nominal HV and nominal gas mixture
Endcap Integration Workshop: June 11-14, 2001 11
CSCs will arrive to ISRCSCs will arrive to ISRCMS Muon Hall Space In 1997 CERN proposed to usea quadrant of the ISR ring for all CMS Muonactivities: Memorandum CMS/1997-22.Updated proposal in 1999.
Gas pipes?

Handling on ArrivalHandling on Arrival
1) Truck enters here
2) Unloading Stacks of 5 CSCs
3) Stacks are moved to the tunnel
Semi-clean rooms?
Endcap Integration Workshop: June 11-14, 2001 13
ISR: storage hallISR: storage hall
5) Pre-installation Test:– dark current test (nominal mix)– un-stack, spread, and open– use portable mini-FAST DAQ:
• LVDB mezzanine board • ALCT self-test• CFEB connectivity• CFEB noise• CFEB calibration• AFEB connectivity• AFEB noise• ALCT/CLCT Self-trigger• Glue alignment pads (?)
– close and stack again– gas: Ar+CO2
Figure 7 Proposed storing configurationDifferent types of Muon Endcap chambers.Notes:Italic--we may want to skip laterME1--may require pre-installation tests conducted twice (on arrival and before installation)
4) HV and Leak Test in boxes4*) Broken CSCs go to semi- clean room for repair
Endcap Integration Workshop: June 11-14, 2001 14
SX5: installation/commissioning:SX5: installation/commissioning:tentative sequence under scrutinytentative sequence under scrutiny
ME2 (example): 36+18=54 CSCs– deliver to SX5 30 chambers (6 stacks) = (5 days)
– (gas leak in FY02-03 when we have time) = (6 days)
– burst of installation of “back” chambers @ 4 CSC/day = 7 days XY
– check for gas leak, in parallel with
– burst of cabling/piping for back chambers @ 4 CSC/day = 7 days Y
– commission “back” CSCs @ 4 CSC/day (portable HV and DAQ) = 7 days Y
– at the same time deliver to SX5 another 30 chambers = (5 days)
– burst of installation of “front” chambers @ 4 CSC/day = 7 days XY
– check for gas leak, in parallel with
– burst of cabling/piping for “front” chambers @ 4 CSC/day = 7 days Y
– commission gas/water for the station = 1 day Y
– commission “front” CSCs @ 4 CSC/day (portable HV and DAQ) = 7 days Y
– alignment photogrametry = 2 days Y
-------------
= 45 days
– after that maintain Ar+CO2 gas flow, monitor gas leaks, test HV periodically
X - need for crane, Y - need for cherry picker
