GM released the first official images of the Cruze on August, 2008 at GM Lordstown Assembly plant in Lordstown, Ohio.

The Cruze was, "developed by a global design and engineering team and will be built in multiple locations around the world".

Bold headlamp housings wrap around the front corners and

sweep up into the fenders. The clear polycarbonate outer

coated headlamp bezels are sculpted into the forward corners and resemble inset jewels. Piano

black (high sheen) upper and lower accents within the housings offset the chrome bezels, accentuating

their “pop” in the process;

emitting diodes (LED), which adds to the upscale statement seen in the rear.

•The rear park assist helps you park the Cruze more easily. When the rear end of the car is near an

obstacle a sound will be heard. The frequency of the sound increases as the vehicle comes closer to the

A one-piece housing that enables a compact, light design.Needle bearings for all gears to ensure low-friction gear meshing for better shift ability.Enhanced low-gear engagement for smooth and easy launch and shift characteristics.Excellent noise, vibration and harshness characteristics. A shorter shifter on manual and automatic transmissions helps to emphasize sportiness and fun-to-drive characteristics.


The 6T40 six-speed A/T include:

•An innovative on-axis design that translates to a shorter overall vehicle length and more interior room inside Cruze.

•Clutch-to-clutch shift operation for added precision and smoother shifts between gears.

•A wide spread ratio. The first gear is a very high ratio which provides brisk acceleration from the top. Sixth gear is an overdrive ratio which keeps the engine revolutions as low as possible for highway cruising and improved fuel economy.

•Low maintenance – premium fluid used in this transmission need not be replaced during normal use.

(SDM) is mounted along the centerline of the vehicle in the center console. It receives input from sensors and determines the severity and location of the impact, then decides whether or not to deploy the air bags and activate the seatbelt pretensioners.

•Bumper systems are engineered to require minimal repairs after front or rear collisions. The front bumper is positioned for optimum safety in the event of a collision with an automobile.

•Additional Spot Welds – Approximately 30-percent more spot welds are used throughout the vehicle’s structure resulting from a reduction in weld spacing from 50-mm to 30-mm. The result is enhanced

•The safety cage of the Cruze is strong and rigid, and is reinforced with welded tubular bars giving optimum passenger protection.

•Hydraulic ride bushings (found more commonly on luxury vehicles) that help result in a higher degree of ride isolation and a quieter performance.

•A front direct-acting hollow stabilizer bar for maximum stiffness that helps result in better performance.

• Rollover sensing, The technology uses sensors to proactively predict vehicle “tip up” on a flat road surface, and applies brake force to the outside front and rear wheels in order to reduce lateral force in the vehicle.

•While the packaging of the cluster is tighter and more efficient, the gauges and readouts actually appear larger. This was achieved through extensive computer math modeling – using a RAMSIS software that’s specifically developed for such

executions.

Perhaps the most telling characteristic of the interior refinement is the overall flushness of

interrelating elements and extremely tight gap tolerances. Gaps between components and interfaces in the center stack are less than 1

millimeter – comparable to any vehicle. Instrument panel-to door-gaps are less than 5
