God is doing so many amazing things in the life of our
school. Students are striving for excellence in academics. Our
Terra Nova test scores show our students are scoring above the
national average in every grade level. Our students are putting
their best foot forward in sports and our soccer team and cross-
country team are setting their eyes on the tournament champi-
onships. We are showing the love of Jesus by serving our commu-
nity through planting fall plants, learning how to become local
and foreign missionaries, and honoring the ministry leaders in
our local churches. Our academy parents are coming out of the
wood work to volunteer time, money and resources. Can God
bless us any more? YES! As we stay obedient to Him, He will con-
tinue to lead, guide and bless our school. Please keep praying for
YOUR school. Keep supporting YOUR school and keep volunteer-
ing at YOUR school.
Boosterthon is coming to BCA on Dec. 7. The entire campaign will
kick off on November 27 and we are asking every family to get in-
volved. Will you help us with this major fundraising event for our
school? Students will be asked to collect pledges for the laps they
will run during our GLOW RUN, which will take place at the
Bethesda Ruritan Gym on the morning of Dec. 7. All funds raised
through this program will go toward renovating our band room
and installing new flooring in our elementary classrooms. Details
about Boostherthon is coming soon but begin thinking now how
you can partner with us as we seek to raise $15,000.

On behalf of the students and staff members of Bethesda Christian
Academy, we would like to say THANK YOU to all the parents who
have given so much to the ministry of BCA to allow our dreams to
become a reality. Listed below are a few of the recent academy
blessings:
The large mulch area in front of the new soccer field will be profes-
sionally landscaped on Oct. 4 thanks to the $1000 donation given by
the Wheelis Family and Ms. Brown.
The BCA Soccer Field will have an irrigation system installed and
will be hooked up to city water thanks to the generous donation of
$20,000 given by the Gronewald Family.
Do you have a vision for BCA? Do you have a passion to see the
academy accomplish great things? Please contact Mr. Manning if
you feel led to financially support an academy improvement pro-
ject.
Showers of Blessings at BCA!
BCA’s boys soccer team celebrated their first game with a win on the BCA home field. The after-noon opened with a prayer of thanksgiving and a twenty-two balloon launch. There was one balloon for each year the academy has been in existence. Our sidelines were packed with family, friends, mem-bers of the community, as well as very excited soccer players. Our boys did not disappoint. They defeated Envision Science Academy with a score of 3-1. Asher McCown scored the first goal on our new field. Ellis Seale and Blake Leary finished off the day with two more goals. The afternoon ended with the players signing the game ball which now resides in the BCA trophy case located outside the school office. Thank you to all who have worked so hard to make this day a reality!!!! God has blessed and we are very thankful. BCA families are the BEST!!!

Grandparents Day

Our elementary students enjoyed a time of reading
with their grandparent(s) or special friend. Our
campus was filled
with family and
friends who came to
read with and support
our students.
Afterwards, our
guests enjoyed a
delicious breakfast
prepared by our
awesome café staff.
BCA is truly made
better by the contribution these special people
make to their children at home and at school.
day morning, the students travel
to Linville Caverns to experience
God’s handiwork deep under-
ground as they tour Linville Cav-
erns. In the afternoon, hiking
skills will be put into place as
they visit Grandfather Mountain.
These outside activities allow our
students to go beyond the text-
book to enhance the learning en-
vironment.
BCA’s middle school stu-
dents will be participating in
several hands on learning activ-
ities as they venture off campus
on October 19th and 20th.
Eighth graders will walk
where many of our founding
fathers walked as they tour Wil-
liamsburg, Va. They may even
encounter a few ghosts during
their Hauntings tour. Friday is
spent at Busch Gardens experi-
encing the culture of several
countries as well as the terror of
conquering those amazing roller
coasters.
Sixth and seventh graders
will travel to the beautiful North
Carolina mountains. Their first
day is spent touring the incredi-
ble Biltmore House. During the
afternoon, students have the op-
portunity to experience hands on
science at the Biltmore farm. Fri-
BCA is proud to announce the 2017-2018 officers for
the Crusader Chapter of the National Junior Honor
Society. These amazing young people will be leading
the way for our new and returning members.

kit has a game to help practice math skills and they are switched out week-ly. Second grade has 2 bonus kits that come with a math buddy (either Fibo-nacci, the owl, or Pi, a stuffed pi sym-bol). Students get to write and draw about a math adventure they go on with their buddy. These hands own techniques make math concepts stick while keeping math fun and inter-esting!
Our students and families en-
joyed an amazing, fun filled
Hoedown put on by our Par-
ent Teacher Fellowship. There
were hayrides, corn hole
games, pie, coffee and s’mores
with their very own fire pit.
Our families enjoyed learning
to square dance with an au-
thentic square dance caller.
It was truly a great night for
young and old. Thank you to
all who helped with this
event. Our PTF is the best!
First and second graders have
begun a new adventure in math. Stu-dents are engaging in number talks where they discuss the different ways they solve math problems mentally. In addition to whole group instruction, students are learning in small groups (similar to guided reading). There are opportunities to practice math facts outside of school using the math kits that go home on Fridays. Each math
This year, we are excited
to offer an elementary
STEM elective taught by
Mrs. Gibson. Each nine
weeks, students in grades
2-5 will visit the science
classroom to participate in
a collaborative STEM chal-
lenge The challenge for
the 1st nine weeks was to
create a chain that would
hold a bucket of water. The
challenging part was that
the groups were only given
one piece of newspaper
and scissors. No tape. No
glue. No staples. The chil-
dren have been very crea-
tive in developing methods
of making a strong chain.
We have had several that
have been able to hold the
bucket of water!! Stay
tuned for the second nine
weeks challenge!!

The students of Bethesda Christian Academy want to honor all “Church Ministry Personnel” at a special chapel that will be held on Tuesday, October 03, 2017 at 2:00 pm. Our students have designed a special 45 minute program especially for you to thank you for your servant-minded leadership and your desire to help advance the Kingdom.
