Symptom s of CRPS Psychological • Fear • Anxiety • Anger • Depression • Failure to Cope • Behavioural illness Vasomotor • Changes in Skin Colour • Changes in Temperature Sensory • Allodynia – extreme sensitivity to touch/pain from stimuli which are not usually painful • Hyperalgesia – heightened sensitivity to pain Sudomotor • Edema/Swelling • Sweating Motor • Weakness • Tremor • Dystonia • Decreased range of motion • Muscle spasms Trophic • Nail growth • Hair growth • Glossy Skin • Hyperkeratosis – abnormal thickening of the skin How is CRPS diagnosed?

Doctor: 1 sign from 2 of the categories
Categories:
Sensory abnormalities
Vasomotor dysfunction
Sudomotor dysfunction
Motor or Trophic changes
3. How does the pain in the disease progress ?
- Pain initially at site of injury.
4. Onset of CPRS characterized by diffuse pain, deep within the affected limb. 5. Development of trophic and autonomic abnormalities. 6. Pain spreads to areas beyond the injury site.
