Aqua Class 29 AUGUST 2016

The six boys in Aqua Class Oliver, Alan, Luke Sy, Zac, Cameron and Luke Si are preparing to finish school next term. Their Graduation will be on the 8th of December at Roseville Golf Club.

This term some students are trialling possible post school options by visiting places and activities with the support of Gary. There will be more of this as the decisions for where they will go next year approaches and we will support some transition to these chosen venues. At school they are busy consolidating the skills important for the big change in their lives. They are all involved in school service jobs and are becoming quite independent with moving around the school independently. The in school work experience is also continuing with increased focus and confidence in known and new activities presented. In between the students continue to remain active with fitness and yoga sessions and the Zumba sessions continuing this term.

We are very proud of the year twelve students and the contributions they have made to our school.

Welcome to week 7

This will be the last newsletter for at least two weeks due to the preparations to go live with the new finance and student management system on 5 September. The office staff will be unavailable for any matters other than emergencies during the period of 5-12 September and phone calls will be answered mostly by teaching staff or executives who are not on class at that time. Your patience and understanding during this time is appreciated as we transition to this new system.

Fruit & Veg Month 2016 runs for the last 4 weeks of this term beginning today, Monday 29 August until Friday 23 September and our school has registered to participate. This is part of our live life well program to encourage healthy eating habits. We will be encouraging students to learn about and eat lots of vegetables. Students will be involved in various classroom and school based activities that aim to encourage them to eat more vegetables. There will be a celebratory shared morning tea on Wednesday 14 September -

please see the additional note later in this newsletter.

The NDIS is beginning to gain some momentum with some families already having their planning meetings scheduled. Service providers are also contacting schools as well as offering information sessions around their services. Some families have been advised that confirmation regarding the appropriateness of some of their plan components is required and have asked the school to provide this in writing. Whilst we are happy to assist please note that we can only confirm the need of educational programs or resources. We are not able to verify the need for therapy programs or services - this information must be sourced from relevant therapists as we are not qualified to assess therapy needs.

DON'T FORGET TO ADD THE DATE TO YOUR CALENDAR!!

RIDERS STILL WELCOME!

CROMEHURST CHARITY RIDE, 20 November 2016 - Robertson, NSW

Last year’s ride enabled us to fund the installation of the Liberty Swing as well as this September’s Vacation Care trial. We look forward to doing similar amazing things in the

future. Please forward to your road biking friends!

CGSRobo16, the annual Cromehurst Charity Bike Ride, will be held on Sunday, 20 November 2016 in Robertson NSW, about 2 hours’ drive South / West of Sydney on the M5. Please come for the day (very doable, 2 hours each way) or make a weekend of it!! Please send out to any road bike rid-ers you know. It's a fun day for a great cause.

RIDE DETAILS

The ride is scheduled for Sunday, 20 November. Previous guest riders include Cadel Evans (2011 Tour de France WINNER), Simon Clarke (Team Cannondale), Caleb Ewan (Team Orica-GreenEDGE), Gracie Elvin and Rachel Neylan (Team Orica-AIS), Stu Shaw (Search2Retain) and Owen Finegan (Australian Wallaby’s / Brumbies Legend). We are hopeful that some of these past guests will join us again, and maybe some new guests for this year.

The ride will be 50-60kms and will take place in the stunning Southern Highlands, starting and finishing at the Robertson Showground, about 2 hours’ drive on the M5 south-west of Sydney. The ride will take us through the beautiful countryside and rolling hills of Robertson, Kangaloon, Glenquarry, Burrawang and Wildes Meadow, and we will climb around 1000m. There is plenty of wonderful accommodation in/around Robertson, or leaving Sydney at 7am will get you to Robertson with time to get ready for the ride.

Please let me know if you think you will be able to join us for an amazing day!
