Remember that you can access the excellent http://www.interactive-resources.co.uk/ website from home; both the username and password are crownprimary (all lower case). Go into the ‘P4 – Miss Gray’ folder and you will find new multiplication games for this term.If you don’t have access to a computer at home, play some times tables games with someone else. Write some times tables questions on card and see who can answer them the fastest when you turn them over.

Primary 4 Home Learning - fortnight commencing Monday 30th January

Personal PresentationsOne of our targets for this term is to be able to present to an audience and show awareness of voice and body language. We made an excellent start with our Viking presentations last Friday; we are now going to work on building confidence by presenting individual talks to our classmates.

I would like you to choose a topic for your presentation and prepare a personal talk – this can be on anything which interests you; a sport or hobby, a favourite animal, or a famous person or landmark. You will give a more confident presentation if you choose something which you know quite a bit about already. I would like you to produce a poster to support your presentation (Miss Gray can provide paper); prompt cards can be used to help you remember your key facts and you can bring in items to show/pass round. Your presentation should be no shorter than 2½ minutes and no longer than 4 minutes. To keep things fair please do not use Powerpoint on this occasion even if you have access at home – we will be using Powerpoint again later in the term.Presentations will be timetabled for the week beginning 13th February – you must be prepared, as we will draw names out of the hat and you will have to present the next day. What I will be looking for:

A clear voice with good expression and projection. Open body language – face your audience and make some eye contact. Well organised information – no important details overlooked or missed out. Active listening – audience participation – showing an interest and asking relevant questions.

Viking Open AfternoonA huge thank you to everyone who managed along to support our Viking Open Afternoon – it was really great to see the classroom buzzing with enthusiasm! Pictures of the afternoon have been posted on the class blog together with the group presentation Powerpoints for parents/carers who were perhaps unable to come along.

Well done P4 – your singing was amazing, and I was amazed at the quality of your artwork and Powerpoint presentations!

What’s on? Please remember PE every Thursday. Cross country on Tuesday 3-4pm. P4 Wednesday lunchtime Art Club with Miss Gray. Home Learning jotters should be returned to school on Thursday 9th February to be marked before the next round of Home Learning is issued. Up Helly Aa Celebration – Tuesday 31st January (dress as a Viking again if you wish). Don’t forget to follow our school and class blog so that you don’t miss out on any updates.
