USF Health lives its mission of Making Life Better. We are taking an active role in breaking through barriers of traditional healthcare models through interprofessional education and research involving everyone in USF Health: Nursing,

Medicine, Public Health, Physical Therapy, and Pharmacy.” - Stephen Klasko, MD, MBA Senior Vice President, USF Health Dean, Morsani College of Medicine

I ’m so proud of where this program has come and where it continues to go

as we look forward to the future. The USF Nurse Anesthesia Program is eagerly

seeking national prominence as we are on the verge of many exciting

opportunities. Word is definitely getting out about the quality of our program

and our connection with CAMLS has really put us in the national spotlight.

We’re drawing a lot of interest and have seen a huge increase in the number of

applications, especially from beyond our state” - Erik Rauch, DNP, CRNA Assistant Professor and Director, Nurse Anesthesia Concentration

USF College of Nursing

Our Nurse Anesthesia students have opportunities for

interprofessional experiences that will give them a decided

advantage when they enter their profession. Training with

those scenarios will help our graduates feel very comfortable

when they get to a real hospital/OR setting. And it’s not just about the

scenarios, but about building and practicing strong communications

and teamwork skills that will truly make the difference.”

- Rita F. D’Aoust, PhD, ANP-BC, CNE, FAANP, FNAP

Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Interprofessional Initiatives,

USF College of Nursing

The Center for Advanced Medical Learning and Simulation (CAMLS) is a $38 million, 90,000-square-foot facility that brings an unprecedented level of technical and teamwork training, simulation and competence assessment under one roof. The USF Nurse Anesthesia program has always had simulation built into its curriculum, its new home at CAMLS offers an entirely new environment with more simulation equipment offering greater specialization, including training suites with 20 anesthesia scenarios.

Transform Healthcare, Transform Lives as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist!

I cannot believe how rewarding it has been to be involved with

the teaching of future nurse anesthetists. It is an understatement

to say that I have learned more from the students and from the

experience of teaching than I could have ever imagined. I am

a better CRNA today because of my involvement with the nurse

anesthesia program at the University of South Florida.”

– Pete Schultz, CRNA, ARNP

James A. Hayley VA Hospital

Tampa, FL

“It is not every day that you are given the opportunity to do

something that you never even considered or dreamed.

Considering that I am the first college graduate in my family,

finishing undergraduate degree and master’s degree and

becoming a CRNA is something to be very proud of. I knew the

USF was the place to get my degree, and was so impressed I

went on to get my DNP at USF! I hope to inspire others to follow

their dreams, and if only one person goes to college as a result

of my influence – I would be ecstatic.” – LaSonya D. Malbrough, DNP, MS, CRNA Assistant Professor Concentration Assistant Director, Nurse Anesthesia (CRNA)

You can’t possibly understand how wonderfully rewarding and

awesome this career is! For those considering USF as your institution

to get a Masters and practice nurse anesthesia, you will find

no better home with faculty as intelligent and caring and truly

involved in our profession. USF is not an easy program... Which

makes it that much better to learn and graduate from.”

– John Schlobohm, MS, CRNA
