Northern Lakes College offers pre-careers and pre-university studies courses that are accessible, affordable and convenient. College and Career Preparation (CACP) offers courses in Biology, Computer Applications, English, and Mathematics. These courses lead to entrance into a variety of career programs or university studies courses. Courses are offered during the Fall, Winter and Spring terms. These courses are not university courses and credit does not transfer into any program. They are intended to enhance and supplement student skills for entrance into the student’s program of choice. Classes are small, offered asynchronously for flexibility, and instructors are helpful. If you have dreamed of becoming an Addiction Services Worker, Practical Nurse, Educational Assistant, Childcare Worker, or a Social Worker, College and Career Preparation Program courses can get you started!

AVAILABLE ANYWHERE

You can start a university education in your community and save the value of a new vehicle simply by taking your first two years at Northern Lakes College instead of going to a major centre! Northern Lakes College offers university transfer courses that are accessible, affordable and convenient. Class sizes are small, and instructors are helpful and caring. A program advisor works with students to plan a program of study, and instructors prepare students to meet the challenges of university study. Students may choose to select courses and focus study toward the completion of a Northern Lakes College certificate or diploma, or design a program of study to transfer credit toward a number of degree programs from other post-secondary institutions. Transfer opportunities exist for a number of degree programs in other institutions including Aboriginal Studies, Arts, Education, General Studies and Social Work and to the University of Alberta’s Aboriginal Teacher Education Program (ATEP). Students who are interested in the Addiction Services Worker, Educational Assistant, Early Learning and Child Care, Practical Nurse, or Social Work programs can complete part of their university transfer credits through the University Studies program. Students who would like to get a head start on one of these professional studies programs are encouraged to meet with the University Studies Program Advisor for a list of current course offerings.
