“Nothing without Joy!” Loris Malaguzzi

Join Creative Children’s Center for the best in summer fun with

our 2012 Creativity Camps. Our unique programs encourage

students to learn about the world in creative and innovative

ways. By interconnecting the arts and sciences, students develop a thirst

for knowledge while having a wonderful time! Select your favorite themes

or experience something new. No matter how you cut it, CCC is the perfect

slice of summer fun!

Summer Programs Inside this brochure, you will find our lineup of summer camps and enrich-

ment programs. Our programs include Early Learners and Elementary

Creativity camps.

About Us At Creative Children’s Center, we believe that children learn best when they

are joyfully engaged in the learning process. Children are unique and

competent individuals that communicate in “100 languages.” Our strong

foundation in the arts encourages that vital communication.

Opened by Lucy Chaillé and a group of local parents, CCC admitted it’s first

students in 1990. CCC has now touched the lives of thousands of students

from Preschool to High School. Our facility has grown to include three

interactive classrooms and a large naturescape play yard.

CCC is an active member of The International Reggio Exchange and Parent

Child Preschools of Oregon. Our staff are all members of The National

Association of the Education of the Young Child.

Our Creative Curriculum

Writing, singing, acting, moving and inventing! Sculpting, building, painting,

drawing and designing! Creative Children’s Center’s camps inspire the im-

agination in us all! We bring together

the teachers, environment, materials and

the tools needed for children to thrive.

Each day students are given “launching

points” for their investigations.

Teachers introduce “Big Ideas” at the

daily meeting that inspire children to

actively participate in their own ed-

ucational development. Inside or out,

each day is jam packed with summer fun.

CCC’s professional teachers design and run our summer programs ensuring

quality and safety for all campers. Teacher Casey has been directing the

summer camp program since 2003 and is a multi

-age preschool teacher during the school year.

Teacher Ally has also been teaching summer

camp at CCC for four years, as well as for eight

years in New Hampshire. She teaches the CCC

Elementary program during the school year.

Supporting Casey and Ally will be Teacher

Courtney and the director, Lucy Chaillé. Court-

ney teaches mixed-age preschool during the

school year and enjoys spending time with her

children while supporting camps during the

summer.

Week 1, June 27-29-July 2,3 Dino Daze! Ages 3-5 Kids love dinosaurs! What can be better then

digging up bones, erupting volcanoes and mak-

ing your own dino buddy to take home? Have

a dino-mite week as a junior paleontologist!

Art, theater & science “ROAR” galore!

Mr. Wizard’s Wonders Ages 6-9

With wacky experiments and brainy inventions, this camp is both fun and

educational for all the blooming young scientists out there. Bouncing around

questions and ideas, testing theories, and gathering data, this camp goes

beyond the basics and begins to build hands on knowledge of scientific pro-

cesses. From egg drop contraptions launched off the roof to bottle rockets,

it’s a blast!

Week 2, July 9th—July 13th Super Scientists Ages 3-5 Explore crazy chemistry, mysterious biology, and physics in action in this

week of madcap science fun! Experi-

ments abound as we investigate science

by posing questions, building hypotheses,

and theorizing the “how, what, and why?”

We will make goops and goos, launch an

egg craft, blast off a rocket, and grow

some furry biological friends! This su-

per week introduces the scientific

process in active and engaging ways!

Prehistoric Times, Ages 6-9 Continents were on the move in the Creta-

ceous period, and dinosaurs ruled! Mammals

stood poised to fill the void that soon would

be left! What happened? How can we learn

more? Let’s travel back in time as we investi-

gate through the arts and sciences! This

week we will become dinosaur detectives as we put on our hard hats, digging

for bones and discovering what life was like long ago!

and engineering give us a voice and the power to share! ART, 3-D building,

and Design are MAD fun!

of water and how essential it is! Kooky Art, gooey science, and silly games

are all part of the fun! Prepare for a wet week of adventure!

Summer Splash: Water Works Ages 6-10 Water is a mysterious and magical material to work with. This week we will

essential it is. Come build a contraption for water to travel through and hope

it doesn’t leak! From splashy arts and
