READING : A HOME / SCHOOL AGGREEMENT ?

AT SCHOOL AT HOME

We will ensure that your child has a reading book at the

correct level for him or her.

We will also lend out Bedtime Books for you to read TO

your child.

We will send home book bags at least 3 times a week, or in

KS2, every night.

Once a week class teachers will check the Reading Record

Books,

or in classes 5 & 6, Reading journals

We will celebrate your child’s reading progress in school

assemblies.

We will read high quality stories and poems to the children,

at least twice a day.

We will take children from each class to the Local Library

to choose books or the whole class , once every 6 weeks

We will continue to run FREE ‘Family

Reading Workshops’ every Half Term,

to pass on to parents the knowledge

of PHONICS and the resources they

need, in order to support their child’s

reading.

Find a daily 15 minute slot when your child can read their

book to you. Please sign the reading record book, add a

comment if you want to. …………………………………………..

ALSO, read Bedtime stories to your children –it is very

important that they enjoy being read to whilst they are trying

so hard to learn to read

Remind your child to take their book bag to school.

Praise your child and display his or her reading progress

certificates.

Join the local library –you can borrow 9 books at a time with

no charges or fines to worry about!

Attend the FREE ‘Family Reading Workshops’ that Ruth Moyler

runs every Half Term, in order to keep in step with your child’s

progress in reading and phonics.

This term’s’ Family Reading Workshops’ are:

Red reception : Monday 3rd October

Green reception : Tuesday 4th October

Red reception : Monday 21st November

Green reception : Tuesday 22nd November
