The sun shone brightly as the prospective hosts braced themselves for a produc- tive and enriching day ahead. Ambassador Robert O.

A safety precaut ion that was announced was to check al l the equipment and mater ia ls before working to keep a healthy and secure envi ron-m e n t .

There are two packages; Package A, for Rp. 100.000,00, provided a great fun to k ids consisted of key-chain , canvas paint ing and or igami paper . With addit ional Rp. 50.000,00, parents could buy Package B, which is featured in Package A plus a Hide-Out entry t icket . As i t turned out , the exhib i t ion was a great way for parents and chi ldren to have a great t ime whi le contr ibut ing to the society . Our f i rst booth v is i tor , Mr . I Gede Putu Raka, said that jo in ing the photo booth and the carousel r ide was an “excit ing and del ightfu l exper ience for the k ids .”

the less fortunate fami-l ies al l around the wor ld , s ince fami ly is the smal l -est important uni t in our l ives. Part ic ipat ing in the Min iapol is Exhib i -t ion embodies social phi lanthropy in the most s imple and excit-ing way. This event is a

p latform where parents and their chi ldren can have fun whi le lending a hand to the others . Kids can also learn through their parents the importance of

In the process, we had opportuni t ies to explain to booth v is i tors what Habitat is and does. We wanted people to know that Habitat is not only bui ld ing homes. Indeed, wi th the help of char i table donors, together we bui ld homes; a home that is not just as a safe dwel l ing but a lso a conducive envi ronment for chi ldren to learn important values f rom their parents .

6.1-magnitude earth-quake struck Nangroe Aceh Darussalam (NAD) on July 2nd, 2013. The quake was

fel t f rom regional capital Banda Aceh to Bener Mer iah. The Bener Mer iah and Central Aceh distr icts were hardest h i t . Many people were in jured, lost and dead; as wel l as many houses and publ ic faci l i t ies (schools , mosques, etc . ) were damaged. With in 48 hours of the d isaster , Rapid Response team from Habitat for Humanity (HFH) Indonesia observed the affected area and reported what HFH Indonesia can do to help . Habitat p lanned and

Kampung Belang. The water network also connected to water faci l i ty in four mosques.

ates v is i t the Medan Branch-one of these groups is f rom Malaysia, the other f rom South Korea. Al though the two groups

Claps 6 GV Later that month, Claps6—a group consisted of 23 youths f rom South Korea —joined and helped the Global V i l lage program as wel l . In th is Global V i l lage, they also helped bui ld two houses. One of the houses was owned by Set ia Budi Sembir ing (45) and h is wife Suminem br Gint ing (46) who are farmers as wel l . The two support their three sons with an income of IDR 1,500,000/month (about USD 130/month) . Budi and Suminem or ig i -nal ly l ived in a house that was on st i l ts for approximately 22 years . I t was a very s imple house with a thatched roof , wal ls , and a wooden f loor . S ince there is no electr ic i ty for l ight-ing in the area, the fami ly would re ly on candles. They sent their chi ldren to school but only up to High School , which they are al ready grateful for . Budi and Suminem need for a good dai ly l i fe and school expenses were ranked much h igher than their need for a decent home, which was thought l i t t le of . After Habitat

Condit ions at the house were at i ts worst : the c o c o n u t leaf roof and the w o o d e n w a l l s leaked constant ly , which wereu n f o r t u n a t e e s p e c i a l l y dur ing the rainy season. As farmers, i t was impossible for them to bui ld a new house out of their own savings, but their pain was al lev iated when they were chosen to be one of the fami l ies that Habitat Indonesia funds to bui ld . This was a dream to them. Upon v iewing her house Emitabita commented, “ I never had a dream to have a new house, because for us , i t is enough i f we can fu l f i l l our dai ly necessit ies .” Pranki added with eyes fu l l of tears of happiness,

“But God knows what we need.

Garden Internat ionalSchool GV The Malaysian group came on June 29th–July 4th , 2014. They were f rom Garden Internat ional School Malaysia and composed of 19 students and three teachers . One of the benef ic iary fami l ies that the group helped was Pranki Gint ing and h is fami ly of three. Pranki Gint ing (29) and h is wife Emita-bi ta Apr i l ly br Tar igan (26) work as farmers with a total income of IDR 1,450,000/month, which is equivalent to USD 126 /month. The two have a 5-years-old son. Pranki and Emitabita graduated from Junior High school so they were only able to get jobs in the farming industry . The f i rst year of their marr iage, they l ived with their parents , and the fol lowing year , moved to their grandmother ’s house. Dur ing their residence in their grandma’s house, their f i rst son was born .
