1. HEAD TO MYOCEANCHALLENGE.ORG This is a good place to get some inspiration and see what previous fundraisers have achived. Some of them are really simple and yet super effective. You can also check out our Fundraising Ideas to help you come up with your own challenge.

2. CREATE YOUR FUNDRAISING PAGECreate your fundraising page as soon as possible and make sure to set your fundraising target, personalize your appeal to explain your challenge, what it supports and why it’s important to you. Photos and videos can really convey who you are and why you are pas-sionate about the cause.

3. TEAM CHALLENGE?Want to rally some friends to join your challenge? You can create a team page from your personal profile under “Teams” > “Create a New Team”. Name your team, add a photo, enter an appeal and you are set. Don’t forget to invite your friends to join your team and start fundraising!

KICK OFF –IN 3 SIMPLE STEPS

1. MAKE YOUR FIRST DONATION Donating to your challenge shows your commitment to the cause and sets the bar for the donations to come. Be generous to yourself and others will be too.

2. SEND YOUR FIRST EMAILShare your story! Let your supporters, friends and families know about what you are do-ing and why you are doing it. Use our email template it’s quick and easy.

3. ANNOUNCE ON SOCIAL MEDIAConnect with your social media networks to spread the word about your challenge!Use this example or go to the Tool Kit to find more - “Marine debris affects 693 marine species globally. Please support #MyOceanChallenge to help protect marine life (insert: your personal fundraising page url)”

2. SEND A FOLLOW UP EMAILDon’t be shy to send a follow up email. People are busy and they will appreciate a re-minder. Include an update on your challenge and remind them how their donation helps. Use the email template we created or write your own.

1. SEND A REMINDER EMAIL Urgency is powerful. Most people donate the week of or after a big challenge and appre-ciate a final call to remind them. Use the email template we created for you.

2. GIVE IT A FINAL PUSHLet your friends know your challenge is coming soon and they can help you smash your fundraising target for ocean protection. It’s their last chance and you need all hands on decks!

SAY THANK YOU

1. SEND A THANK YOU EMAILSend a personalised thank you email to all your donors and let them know how much their support has meant to you. You can write your own or use our email template that we have created earlier.

2. ACKNOWLEDGE THEM ON SOCIAL MEDIAPublic recognition makes us feel good about ourselves. Post this Thank You Graphic on their Facebook page. They will love it and it might even encourage more donations from others on the fence!
