Joint Business Plan between the Manufacturer/Distributor and the Retailer

• Group Outlets into “apple-to-apple comparison” clusters based on their purchasing patterns (using analytical Similarity Index), rather than fixed parameters like size, channel or location (which typically lead to incorrect comparisons)

• Benchmark outlets with the Cluster against each other and find leaders (best selling outlets) per category, brand, SKU

• Correlate the successful sales to activities such as Promotion activation (Initiative), share of shelf (SOS), share of display (SOD), assortment carried by the Outlet, out of stocks (OOS)

• Compare the Outlet with it’s more successful peer and identify opportunities (e.g. upsell via assortment expansion, increase of SOS/SOD, activation of promotional initiatives) or gaps (e.g. loss of sales due to OOS)

• Quantify in money value the “Size of Prize” of

these opportunities/gaps based on parameters such as Salience, Sales Trend (during the last X months), Index vs. Year Ago (IYA), and weighted order sizes

• Pick the top opportunities an present to the Seller in a way that allows them to focus on the top focus Categories, Brands, SKUs (so that the Sellers don’t get distracted and lost in hundreds of smaller opportunities)

• Recommend specific actions that the Seller can execute jointly with the Retailer such as additional of new SKUs to the assortment, activation of Promotion initiatives, increase of SOS/SOD or proactive fixing of OOS
