Clothespin Tag

• This game is for 5 or more players and should be played outside or in an open area.

• Each player needs one clothespin

• Clip a clothespin to the back of each person’s shirt. On the word “Go!,” 4-Hers try to steal the other players’ clothespins without letting anyone get their clothespin

• When a clothespin is taken or falls off, the individual is out

• The last player with a clothespin wins.

Congratulations! Congratulations to Bethany Bast for being a MO 4-H award winner! She will be attending National 4-H Congress in Atlanta, Georgia in November. This is a very prestigious award as only 20 delegates from MO were selected this year. The selection process was a result of an application and two levels of interviews.

Bethany was also selected as a MO State Representative recently at State 4-H Congress. This entitles her to represent MO at the Tennessee Round-up in July. She will also have additional responsibilities during the 2011-12 year representing MO 4-H. Way to go Bethany!

Clover Kids Corner Plant a Garden You don’t need a huge patch of land to grow a garden. A small square of backyard or a flowerpot on a balcony or sunny windowsill will do just fine! With a little bit of care children and families can enjoy tomatoes or flowers that they grow together.

Supplies:

• Seedling tomato, herb or flower (look for these in supermarkets, garden centers, or farmers markets)

• Trowel • Flowerpot, window box or sunny patch of backyard • Potting soil (if you are using a flowerpot or window box) • Watering can

Directions:

1. Fill the flowerpot or window box about three-quarters full with potting soil.

2. With a trowel, dig a hole deep and wide enough to hold the roots of your plant. Be sure the flowerpot will provide enough space for the roots to grow.

3. Place the plant in the hole, then fill in the dirt around the roots. Pat the dirt down gently, but don’t pack it down too tightly.

4. Water the plant immediately after planting. A little water is best.

Steps to putting together a good  4‐H Project Record Book

There have been questions concerning the exhibit guidelines for 4‐H record notebooks.  Following are the basic guidelines.  Of course, 4‐H members are encouraged to add whatever they need to enhance and complete the notebook.

1.  Obtain a nice folder, notebook or binder to put your papers in.

2.  Fill out the “4‐H Project Record” form.  Type or neatly write in black or blue ink.

3.  Put in “Your 4‐H Story”.

4.  Put in picture pages.  Write captions next to pictures ex‐plaining what you are doing in the picture.

5.  For animal projects, feed and medical records should be kept as well.

6.  Add anything that would enhance your notebook or con‐vey what you learned in your 4‐H project.

Thank You! We certainly appreciate all the 4-H members, leaders, families and especially Virginia at Frisco’s, who worked together so well to have a successful “4-H Day at Frisco’s fundraiser”.

The “Go Hog Wild” Golf Tourna-ment was also a success, and we thank the organizers and partici-pants who went the “extra mile” to make it happen. Thanks so much. It takes lots of work to make these fundraising events successful. Funds raised from both events will go to improve the livestock facilitates at the Crawford County Fair.
