Theme The Lost Frontier at New Frontier Ranch The theme called ‘The Lost Frontier’ guides the program to represent the location
150 years ago in 1868. Each unit represents groups of pioneers on the Applegate
Trail heading towards the Willamette Valley and are stopping at Pinehurst (the
historic town next to New Frontier Ranch). The encampment will include a great
weekend of activities to patrol competition to evening show.

Who Crater Lake Council Camporall is for all registered Boy Scouts, Ventures,
Explorers, Varsity Scouts, Crews and adult leaders. Webelos are welcome to
camp as guests of a Troop while being in compliance with BSA guidelines.
Program The program for Camporall is across four areas where competition across
patrols will take place:
• Frontier activities will include obstacle course, rope bridge, archery, BB
guns, field games and monkey bridge.
• Mountain Man activities will include crosscut saw, gold panning and fire
building.
• Ranching activities will include lassoing, branding, dutch ovens, candle
making, pioneer era games and surveying.
• American Indian Activities will include arrowhead making, rope making,
fry bread, tomahawk and atlatl.
Camp Fee The Camporall camping fee is $20.00 per participant, including adult leaders.
Saturday only attendees’ fee is $10.00 per person. All paid participants
and attendees will receive a Camporall patch as part of their registration
fee. The activities are all supplied for you.
Registration The registration deadline is April 27th. Be sure to have your unit's
registration, including payment, submitted by the deadline. The registration form
is included in this packet and may be forwarded to the Council Office with
payment before the deadline. SEE LATE REGISTRATION.
Webelos W ebelos participation in the Camporall is welcomed and encouraged. Webelos
should partner with a local Scout Troop. Webelos dens must be under the
supervision of a minimum of two adult leaders, one being a registered Webelos
Den Leader, and have an overall ratio of one adult for every four Webelos.
Webelos registration should be included with the registration for their partner
Troop. It is REQUIRED that all adult leaders take the online course for Youth
Protection Training prior to attending. Webelos may participate in the program
but must be accompanied by an adult leader while competing.
Refunds There are no refunds available, so be sure that your unit registration numbers are
correct. Substitutions within units are acceptable, and rosters can be updated
accordingly at check-in.
T-Shirt Order The deadline for T-Shirt and Sweatshirt Orders is also April 27th. Be sure
to have your unit's order, including payment, submitted by the deadline. A
Clothing Order Form is included in this packet and may be forwarded to the
Council Office with payment by the deadline. We must order clothing by this date
to ensure delivery before the event. You will receive your items upon arrival at
the Camp Trading Post. SEE LATE REGISTRATION.
Late Registration After May 4
th is an additional $5 per person. You can still attend the Camporall if
you miss the dead line. You may miss out on a camp T-shirt because of order
deadlines. There will be a separate order form available. We do not plan to
have any extra shirts for sale at Camporall.
Scout Roster An accurate Scout Roster for each unit, arranged by Patrol, is required at check-
in on Friday. Please make copies of the "Roster Information Page" ( included in
this packet) to use as necessary.
Campsite Each unit will be guaranteed an appropriate Campsite location based on the Unit's
Location Registration information:OA members, Mercy Flights and Explorer posts will be
available to assist Units in getting settled into their campsites.
Check-In Camp opens at 3 PM on Friday, May 18th No one may check-in before this
time but EARLY ARRIVAL IS SUGGESTED. Once you have received your
campsite assignment, you will be guided to your location. Check-In will
confirm the information received through the Registration process. Patrol
Rosters will be collected and any additional payments will be made.
Leaving Camp If anyone must leave camp, please check out with the Registrar or Medical
Officer upon departure and check back in upon return. This is vital for camp
security. There is ONE entrance and ONE exit only unless there is an
emergency.
Check-Out Those wishing to leave Saturday night must have a campsite inspection before
dark. Camporall ends after Sunday morning worship service. All campsites must
be inspected before check-out. All camp activities will cease during the worship
service. Everyone in camp is encouraged to attend the service. The service has
live entertainment and you won’t want to miss it this year. All campsites must be
vacated by 1 PM Sunday.
Uniforms Field Uniforms (also known as Class A) should be worn for travel to and from
Camporall as well as flag ceremonies, Campfire and Sunday morning service.
Class B uniforms are suggested for all other times. You will be judged on
uniformity during Camporall events and competitions.
Vehicles After unloading unit camping gear, cars and other vehicles will be placed in
designated parking areas as directed. Campsites will have easy access for
unloading gear. Once unloaded, move your vehicle quickly. Motor homes and
campers are not allowed in the Troop camping loops and space is limited. There
will be an area for motor homes but you will need your own water and we
ask that generators are not used to keep quiet in camping areas.
First Aid Units should handle minor First Aid situations within their unit. A complete
medical station will be operational 24 hours a day at the Camporall.
Power There is no power in the camping area. There are places for power and plugging
in a cell phone on a limited basis.
Leave No Trace Principles will be followed during the Camporall weekend. Please remember the
Outdoor Code!!!
Troop No fires are permitted outside of designated fire pit. It can get very cold at night
Campfires night and you need to be prepared. Cooking with propane, gas stove or Dutch
Oven is acceptable.
Sanitation PORT-A-POTTIES will be available near the event areas. There are shower
facilities at camp. Bring an extra roll of toilet paper just in case.
Water Water will be available in camping area for use.
Patrol Competition at Camporall is called Patrol Rocks. More information on scoring across
program and activity areas will be provided at Camporall. Be Prepared.
Trash All trash must be taken out of the camp and disposed of properly. Please bring
your own garbage bags and plan ahead. Pack it in, pack it out.
Conduct Leaders are responsible for the conduct and safety of their Scouts at all times. It
is the Leader's responsibility to control the actions of the patrols and to help
organize the day's activities for the boys. Adults are responsible for their own
conduct and safety. Scouts must be within the assigned campsite and quiet after
10:00 p.m. It’s ok to be up in tent after that but respect your close neighbors.
What Units & Tents, stoves, food, tarps for shade or rain, charcoal to cook above ground,
Scouts Troop flag, chairs, Scout uniforms and personal articles, sleeping bag or

Prohibited Firearms, sheath knives, fireworks, drugs, alcohol, pets, bicycles, roller skates,
Items roller blades, inline skates, skateboards and other non-scout items are prohibited
and will be confiscated. S e e e lectronic device policy below. Serious offenses
will result in a review with Scoutmaster and then escalation to Council leadership.
Electronic No pen laser pointers, music players are allowed during the Camporall.
Devices Phones for photos or emergencies only. The event is a device FREE zone!
Multi-channel handheld radios may only be used by leaders. Scouts are
prohibited from these devices as they interfere with Camporall staff operations.
Smoking Smoking is NOT ALLOWED. Leave the property if you must. No exceptions.
OA Members Members are encouraged to bring their OA sash and wear during flags and
campfire program.
Special Needs There are vehicles for transportation within the ranch. There can be quite a
distance for walking. Let us know in advance if there is a situation you might
have concerns about.
Participant New Frontier Ranch requires a participant release form for EVERY participant.

Medical Form Official BSA medical forms are required for every participant (Scout and Scouters) to
attend Camporall and should be kept together and secured but available. .

The Lost Frontier Camporall Program Activities ‘My Patrol Rocks’ Competition
The program for Camporall is across four areas where competition across patrols will
take place. There is a ‘My Patrol Rocks’ competition and participation contest where
awards will be won the old-fashioned way, ‘earning it’. The competition will be patrol
based and requires full participation to test your spirit and skills. Here are the details
of those activities for preparation and planning across patrols:
• American Indian Activities will include arrowhead making, atlatl, fry bread,
rope making and tomahawk throwing.
o Arrowhead Making: Learn how to create authentic arrowheads.
o Atlatl: Learn how this ancient weapon is used and test your distance skills.
o Fry Bread: Test your skills in making Indian Fry Bread in record time.
o Rope Making: Learn how rope is made and how fast you can tie frontier knots.
o Tomahawk: Test your Tomahawk skills to see how many you can stick.
• Frontier activities will include archery, BB Guns, field games, obstacle course
and rope bridge.
o Archery: Test your skills on hitting the bulls eye in the archer competition.
o BB Guns: See how good your shot is and if you your skills are frontier ready.
o Field Games: Learn how to engage the frontier with old field games.
o Obstacle Course: The New Frontier has its own obstacle COPE course to
navigate and see if your patrol can work together and finish successfully.
o Rope Bridge: Experience the New Frontier rope bridge and your feet skills.
• Mountain Man activities will include crosscut saw, gold panning and fire
building.
o Crosscut Saw: Compete with other patrols on cutting logs and learning the
timber skills of the west.
o Fire Building: Race to build the fastest fire and learn new skills for your Troop.
o Gold Panning: Learn what gold panning is all about and how gold was
searched for in streams and hills of the new frontier.
• Ranching activities will include lassoing, branding, dutch ovens, candle making,
pioneer era games and surveying.
o Branding: Branding can result in some awesome designs, and what better to
remember a super awesome event with a super cool brand?
o Candle Making: Light up your campsite with a Hand Made Candle!
o Dutch Ovens: A classic homestead style of cooking, and learn best practices
with tips and tricks in testing your skills.
o Lassoing: Live the life of a ranch hand and lasso things throughout the West!
o Pioneer era Games: Yes, fun and games did exist in the 1800’s, come and
participate and test your pioneering skills of the new frontier.
o Surveying: Learn how to survey and orient yourself to the land you could
claim and live on in the 1800’s.
