The intriguing diversities of India are nowhere represented more alluringly than in the festivals
of the country. This immersive journey is the chance to witness two aspects of a festival that
is celebrated in myriad forms and colours across the country.
An extravaganza of life, culture, traditions, customs and the triumph of good over evil, Durga Puja or “Pujo” is widely celebrated in
the eastern states of India, making this a great time to visit this part of the country. Streets
throng with people dressed in their best festive attire to visit 'Pandals' (or marquees) where
Goddess Durga is welcomed with open arms and the entire community gets together to
celebrate.
For other parts of North India, the celebrations take on the form of Vijayadashami or Dussehra, which also marks the victory of good over evil, represented through the mythical story of Lord Rama who defeated the evil king Ravana. Local
