Dear Cowern Families

& Friends,

The weather is quickly

changing to spring. Tem-

peratures can switch from

70 degrees one day to 40

degrees the next. With

spring break over, it is

always a good opportunity

to remind families of our

overall school dress code.

We plan to have students

go outside for recess as

much as possible since

it’s important for them to

get fresh air and burn off

some of their energy.

Please remember to send

a jacket and boots as

needed. It may not be

snowing, but the ground

is still wet and muddy.

Sometimes it may get

chilly for students as they

are outside for 15 minutes

without warm cover.

In the spring, we also

want to remind students

that it is important for our

attire to remain school

appropriate. While shorts

are okay, shirts and tops

with spaghetti straps or

thin bands need to be cov-

ered with a shirt, sweater,

or hoodie. Students need

tennis shoes for recess

and P.E.

I appreciate your efforts

in helping us maintain

these dress code standards

at Cowern.

Koo Koo Kanga Roo Event — Wednesday, May 4, at 2:20 p.m.

ISD 622 Social Work Department & PrairieCare Presents: ADHD Parent Support Group

Cowern Elementary is looking for ways to inspire, motivate and get

our kids moving! Koo Koo Kanga Roo is the PERFECT solution!

A GO FUND ME page has been set up for this event. Koo Koo

Kanga Roo, just like last year...visiting as a whole school assembly.

Their cost is $1,500, so we’ve asked to fund $1,000. As of March 28,

$365 has been donated.

These programs are open to all parents, caregivers and staff.

CHILDCARE: We ask that you do not bring children to meetings, but they are welcome to attend our child-

care. The cost is $2.00 per child, per meeting. Pre-registration for childcare is required at least one week in

advance. Call 651-748-7594 and leave your name and phone number and the ages and names of your children.

This information is required for all childcare reservations. Childcare will close promptly at 8:30 p.m.

Silent auction requests have been sent for the Cowern Carnival to local and national

companies. Know of someone that would be interested in donating to the Silent Auc-

tion or want to help out? Please contact us at cowernptg@isd622.org.

Red Robin Fundraiser Help our school raise money all year long with

Burgers for Better Schools! It’s free to join and

easy to participate. All you have to do is become a

Red Robin Royalty member, select our school, and

Red Robin will donate 1% of all purchases you

make at participating locations. Learn more at

redrobin.com/betterschools.

April 11 through April 24, Red Robin will

donate 5% of your check (instead of the usual

1%) to Cowern. Just add Cowern to your Red

Robin Royalty account.

Our Giving Tree is located in the front entry of our school. The Giving Tree holds

several cut-out balloons with an item of need for the Cowern Carnival. With parent

permission, students can take a balloon from the tree, purchase the item listed and

bring the item back to school WITH THE BALLOON ATTACHED. Our Cowern

School Carnival is Friday, May 6. All donations should be returned to school by

Monday, May 2. Thank you for your donations!
