Cowboy Stadium is a huge circular building with two 300ft arches anchored to the ground on each side of the stadium. This holds up the roof of the stadium very well. The roof is the largest retractable roof in the world. The sides of the building are mostly made out of glass that allows sunlight into the stadium during the day. Cowboy Stadium is the largest column free building and domed structure in the world. Inside Cowboy Stadium there is the worlds largest and heaviest jumbotron. It is held up by the roof of the stadium. One of the unique things about cowboy stadium is that it can be transformed into many different sports fields and concert set ups. Cowboy Stadium officially opened in May of 2009.The total coast of the building was 1.33 billion dollars making it one of the most expensive sports venues ever built.

Cowboy Stadium is a combination structure. The shell structure component that Cowboy Stadium has, is its curved shape. Cowboy Stadiums roof is curved. The frame structure component that Cowboy Stadium has, is its materials that support each other. Cowboy Stadiums’ arches hold up the roof. Cowboy Stadium has some external forces it has to worry about like wind and rain. Since Cowboy Stadium is close to tornado alley the architects had to take that factor into consideration when designing the building. It is a very strong building.

Cowboy Stadium was built for many different things like sports events, concerts and festivals but its main purpose is to be the home of Dallas Cowboys football team. It has been their home since the beginning of the 2009 season. Cowboy Stadium held Super Bowl XLV in 2011. Cowboy Stadium also hosts college football games like the Cotton Bowl Classic, Southwest Classic, Cowboys Classic and the Big 12 Championship game. Cowboys Stadium also host Texas High School football games. In 2010 Cowboy Stadium hosted NBA All Star Weekend that set a records in attendance. Cowboy Stadium has hosted a few soccer matches. In 2010 Cowboy Stadium hosted a invitational bull riding contest. There have been a total of 3 boxing matches held at Cowboy Stadium. Cowboy Stadium has held many concerts.

Cowboy Stadiums form fits its function for many reasons. Cowboy Stadium is huge so it is able to seat lots of people for concerts and sporting events. Cowboy Stadium has a retractable roof so if its raining during a sporting event they can close the roof and the game will not be affected by the rain. Cowboy Stadium is able to change into many different sports field so it is able to host many sporting events.
