PreK-12 Attendance for Home Learning

COVID-19 School Closure Attendance Expectation ● All students with internet access are expected to

participate in online course activities weekly.● If your student cannot participate online, please contact

us right away.● Online participation may be in the form of turning in

assignments, completing assessments, posting in discussions, responding to questions, or other activity outlined by the teacher.

● Student participation is important in order to○ Recover failing grades○ Improve current grades○ Prepare for the next level of learning

3rd Quarter Grades & Report Cards □ 3rd Quarter grades will be extended to April 17th only

for students with grades of D and F to provide opportunity to improve final 3rd Quarter grades. Please contact the content area teacher via email to work together on this process if this applies to your student.

□ Parents can view their student’s Quarter 3 grades from the “quicklookup” in PowerSchool and can request help for logging in from their school registrar.

□ Parents, upon request, can receive an emailed copy of grades from the school registrar. Becky.Schreiner@dvusd.org

□ 3rd Quarter report card can be viewed online on April 21st

K-12 Grading Procedures for the Remainder of the 2020 School Year

4th Quarter will begin on April 20th.In 4th Quarter, students will... □ Participate in online learning each week by

■ watching videos■ reading assigned materials■ attending Zoom meetings as needed■ submitting assignments

□ Not be penalized for missing assignments □ Receive a missing assignment and no score if they do

not submit a learning activity/assignment

K-12 Grading Procedures for the Remainder of the 2020 School Year

In 4th Quarter, teachers will...□ Enter the student’s 3rd Quarter final grade as a 100

point test to begin the quarter□ Enter an ‘M’ in PowerSchool and no score for missing

assignments□ Ensure that the 4th quarter grade can only be

improved with new learning opportunities but cannot be decreased from the 3rd quarter grade

□ Take attendance through online completion of weekly assignments to track student participation

□ Motivate students to attend online through weekly communication

□ Communicate student attendance issues to administration

4th Quarter Grades ~K-8□ To be clear, a student’s final 4th quarter grade

will not be lower than the student’s 3rd quarter grade if they are participating in online learning.

□ Students will have opportunities to raise their starting grade in each class throughout the 4th quarter through online learning.
