    CARE India’s

Relief to marginalised communities and healthworkers

    Response

    Follow us on

The unabated spread of COVID-19 has placed immense strain on

organizations and communities dealing with this humanitarian

crisis. Marginalized communities face the greatest risk since

they are struggling to meet their daily needs.

Since March 2020, we have provided immediate

relief assistance to over 9.2 lac marginalised

people by distributing 79,855 dry ration kits and

    supported hospitals, frontline workers with

    18,992 PPE kits, 2,22,107 masks, 50,706 litres

    sanitizers and 2,000 litres disinfectant.

We have been providing relief kits customised to local areas

comprising essentials and staples to provide appropriate

nutrition and immediate food relief to those impacted by the

    pandemic.

Imparting knowledge on preventing spread of COVID-19 and

busting myths around the same, has become an integral part of

    our projects and messaging.

  • Due consideration has been given to adhere to standards of nutritional requirements, especially for women and girls, and groups such as

people living with HIV, to help them in these challenging times. To safeguard our frontline workers, we helped procure/supply PPE (Personal

Protective Equipment) including N95 masks, 3 PLY masks, surgical gloves, surgical caps, hand sanitizers, disposable bed sheets, floor

disinfectants and others to hospitals and other Front Line Workers, with the support of our donor partners.

We have provided support to communities in adopting appropriate preventive practices, hygiene

behaviours and creating linkages to testing and treatment services for COVID-19. A big spike in

cases of domestic violence has been reported in and post the lockdown. This got CARE India into

action. Our distribution centers had awareness messages and were woman-friendly spaces. Our

social media platforms carried updates on various gender-based violence issues. Sharing of

helplines to support and help victims of gender based violence was undertaken.

CARE is amongst the first to arrive and the last to leave during a humanitarian crisis. We are

responding to today's emergencies and helping people prepare for tomorrows.

We have responded to Tsunami, Odisha Super Cyclone, Uttarakhand Floods, Chennai floods, Kerala floods and others. We have helped over

nine lakh disaster survivors in the last 10 years. As the country learns to live with COVID-19, CARE India is helping vulnerable communities and

returning migrants revive livelihoods, bridge the gap in education for children and help strengthen health systems, in partnership with our

    corporate donors.

The pandemic requires the adoption of a fully focused approach. We are providing

PPE kits to frontline workers, distributing dry rations for the needy and raising

awareness about the health crisis. In this initiative, we have worked with our

development and corporate partners and together we hope to make a difference.

It is through their support that we have succeeded in providing immediate relief to

    more than 9,20,000 marginalised people.”

Team of health workers from our centre are visiting

nearby local slums and areas to identify COVID-19

patients and suspects. These PPE kits will help the

health workers do their job with utmost safety and

precautions. We express our gratitude towards

WIPRO Foundation, CARE India, Vikas Sahyog

Pratishthan and Mahatma Phule Samaj Seva

Mandal for their support in fighting the pandemic.
