Daily Situation Report – April 8, 2020

In such pandemic and lockdown situation poor people of community cannot afford their basic needs of life. In this situation Community Institutions truly believe in this quote and they didn’t leave alone the poor daily wagers and elderly people of their communities. They are helping the people with whatever surplus they have. Purchasing power of people is almost equal to zero because of global COVID’19, all the cities of Sindh are locked down. Daily wagers faced much difficulties to meet their ends. SRSO through representatives of community institutions (CIs) and staff are responding COVID-19 emergency within its outreach areas. SRSO facilitating Government of Sindh in the identification and distribution of food items in most needy households. Households and individuals are being supported with Cash, Ration and capitalizing LSO linkages for relief activities in their concerned areas. SRSO well trained human capital is engaged in Government relief activities through identification of deserving beneficiaries, distribution of ration bags, conducting awareness sessions on preventive measures to combat COVID-19, distribution of personal protective items/equipment-like masks.

Highlights of the day:

82 poorest households were provided ration/vegetables under Communality initiative’s food drive for poorest HHs by utilizing their saving and mobilization local resources/philanthropists in Larkana, Badin, Kamber-Shahdadkot, Mirpurkhas, Kashmore districts.

Community institutions delivered awareness raising sessions on importance of proper hand-washing and social distancing in Mirpurkhas where 19 community members including 6 children participated.

LSO network of Taluka Baqrani District Larkana nominated Relief Committee members of Taluka Kashmore and Jhuddo (District Mirpurkhas) participated in taluka level meetings and participated in ration distribution at Jhudho as well.

29,559 eligible families have been facilitated into registration process of Ehsaas Emergency Cash Programme within 5 districts. Jacobabad 944 HHs, Kashmore, 6,355 HHs, Mirpurkhas 4,277 HHs, Badin 16569HHs, and Thatta 1414 HHs respectively.

Taluka and district administration notify the relief committees to respond for relief activities in their concerned areas against COVID 19. SRSO and CIS are part of those committees Detail of relief committees are given below

Community Institutions’ Food Drive for Poorest HHS to respond COVID-19 Emergency 2020

Under EU-PINS ER-III Agriculture Entrepreneur from VO Haji Lal Bux Shaikh UC Moen Jo Daro Taluka Dokri, District Larkana distributed vegetables of FFS demo among 15 HHs.

VO Moivi Hussain Soomro UC Haji Soomar Abro Taluka and district Badin, collected donations from the community members and distributed ration among 8 poorest households of the villages.

A Social Activist from VO Jan Mohammad Leghari, UC Thouf Chousol, Taluka Miro Khan, and District Kamber-Shahdadkot provided ration to 15 poorest HHs of the village.

EU-SUCCESSS Programme VO members of VO Meeran Machi, UC Khabar, Taluka Kamber District Kamber-Shahdadkot, contributed Rs. 5,250 and distributed Ration to 7 poorest HHs.

COVID-Govt. Sindh PPRP CIs self-Initiative VO Mavji village Ahmed Khan Bhurghari Talula KG, District Mirpurkhas distributed the ration among 12 poorest HHs of the village from the saving amount Rs.3600.

VO Gahi Khan Shaikh LOS Shah Hussain UC Ghouspur Taluka Kandhkot, District Kashmore took an initiative of ration distribution among 15 HHs of daily wages from saved amount of VO Rs. 5500 and Rs. 3000 philanthropist.

An agriculture entrepreneur of Farmer Field School (FFS) established under EU-PINS II in District Shikarpur distributed 10 vegetables from FFS-Demo Plot to poorest HHs whose are unable to access vegetables due to COVID-19 lockdown situation.

Community Institutions’ Awareness on COVID-19, Handwashing and Social Distancing

VO Anmool Village Haji Ibrahim Leghari UC Jhaloori Taluka Shujababd, District Mirpurkhas conducted an awareness session regarding to COVID1-9 preventing measures with 8 community members under Govt. of Sindh –PPRP a self-initiative was undertaking by

V. O Juman District Mirpurkhas conducted an Awareness session with community on proper hand-washing to combat with Coronavirus. 11 community members 6 women and 5 children participated in the session.

Facilitation to Communities in EHSAAS Cash Emergency Programme Registration

944 deserving and needy people were facelifted in registration under the Ehsaas Emergency Cash Programme in District Jacobabad in registration process through portal.

District Kashmore@ Kandhkot EHSAAS Cash Emergency Programme for the registration of needy and poor HHs. On 08 April 2020, 6,355 HHs were registered on web portal of EHSAAS program.

Today 4,277 eligible beneficiaries have been facilitated in EHSAAS Emergency Cash Programme registration process in district Mirpurkhas. Taluka Sindhri 22219, Mirpurkahs478, Jhuddo 315, KGM 267, and Digri 998 respectively.

To date 16569, eligible beneficiaries have been registered In District Badin, Taluka Khoski1843, SF Rahu 1210, Tando Bago 9323 and Talhar 4193, repressively.

To date 1414 eligible beneficiaries have been registered In District Thatta, Taluka Thatta465, Mirpur Sakro 797, and Ghorabari 152 respectively.

Coordination & Engagement with Govt. Authorities and Stakeholders to Response COVID-19 Emergency

Assistant Commissioner Bakrani Mr. Ghous Bux Jatoi conducted meeting with LSO Network of Taluka Bakrani where District Manager Larkana and SRSO team has participated

District Manager Larkana conducted 03 meetings with Assistant Commissioners of district Larkana. Mr. Masroor Ahmed Bijarani(AC Dokri), Mr. Ghous Bux Jatoi(AC Bakrani) and Abdul Wahid Channa (AC Rato Dero).

Nominated Relief Committee members participated in meeting at AC Kashmore office, District Kashmore regarding distribution of Ration bags in city Kashmore.

The notified Members of Relief Committees participated in Relief Committee Meeting chaired by Mr. Asif Khaskheli AC Jhuddo, District Mirpurkhas after meeting participated in ration distribution with AC Jhudho where 330 ration bags were distributed in 11 Wards.
