    AHMEDABAD BRANCHMulti Mega Event : Ahmedabad Branch ExecutiveCommittee planned and executed its Star Event popularlyknown as Multi Mega Event craved by its membersand families on 5th June 2016 in a glittering function atAhmedabad Management Association with recordattendance of 225 participants.

    National President Shri O P Longia presided over event.Shri Malay Mazumdar VP (West) and Mrs. Mazumdarmotivated members and their families with their graciouspresence. Participants assembled on a Sunny SundayMorning and enjoyed Networking Break Fast.

    Mr. O P Longia than gave his Presidential Address andhighlighted various programs of IIMM.He said thatAhmedabad is most vibrant Branch of IIMM and growingat a very high speed.Members present responded withthunderous applause.

    Mr. Malay Mazumdar VP West said in his Words ofWisdom:

    IIMM Ahmedabad branch is the fastest growing branchamong all the 51 branches of IIMM across the Country.Western India is the most vibrant region in the countryand the same also hold good for IIMM. Of the totalgrowth of IIMM, 30% growth is contributed by WesternRegion. Of the 30% growth, 50% contribution of growthis from Ahmedabad and Vadodara Branch itself.

    Growth of the Branches does not come easily. We needto put genuine effort to make this happen. These dayseveryone has a high expectation and unlike people donot feel any value addition getting associated with IIMM,they will not become a part of the institute.

    IIMM Ahmedabad Branch under the dynamic leadershipof Mr. Gupta is actively engaged in organising numerousprogramme for the benefit of the members. Due to thismore and more people are becoming a part of theAhmedabad Branch.

    Mr. Rajesh Rathod Guest of Honor said in his words ofwisdom. In fact, we felt very much obliged and honoredby IIMM when you called us as Guest of Honor forsuch a Mega event. This is memorable event by all meansand standards. Under guidance and leadership of Shr HK Gupta, IIMM Ahmedabad is felicitating many young

    Dr. Puja S. Pushkarna is a Masters in Psychology. She isworking as a consultant with Apollo Hospital. She earlierworked with Shree Krishna Hospital Karamsad andKrishna Heart Institute. She has many publications toher credit such as a case study on play therapy, stressmanagement etc. She is a columnist with B Positive andTimes of India, Divya Bhaskar and Indian Express. She isa member with the British psychology society andAmerican Cancer Society. A visiting faculty at School ofpsychology at Gujarat University and a psychologicalconsultant with Alcohol Anonymous India

    Dr Pooja Pushkaran gave a very touching talk on StressManagement supported by real life visuals.

    Talk was followed by extensive question answer session,which gave opportunities to participants to find waysand means to execute suggestions of learned speaker.

    AURANGABAD BRANCHEvery year Quality Circle Forum of India (QCFI),Aurangabad conducts Mini Convention on KaizenCompetition. This year QCFI and IIMM Aurangabad

    conducted this convention together on 7th May 2016,at Jawaharlal Nehru Engineering College (JNEC),Aurangabad.

    This was a full day program and more than 80 teamsfrom different organizations of Aurangabad hadparticipated in this convention.

    Chief Guest for inaugural session were the GunwantKamagar - Mr. H.H.Farooqui of M/s NHK AutomotiveComponents and Mr. Sahebrao Kandekar of M/s BajajAuto Ltd. During this session IIMM Vice Chairman Mr. K.Srihari briefed about IIMM activities and offered bestluck to the participants for the competition.

He also offered thanks to the judges to makethe evaluation possible. Dr. Narendra Joshi , Chairmanof IIMM Aurangabad , explained the purpose of IIMMand QCFI association , that , is to , reach to more andmore industries including small scale industries , so asto get quality inputs from the vendors . Dr. Joshi alsoenunciated , how these Quality Tools brings customerdelight. He also appealed for becoming IIMM membersto delegates, who are not IIMM members.

    CHENNAI BRANCHActivity Report-May 2016 : The Monthly Meeting wasconducted at Hotel Savera, on 28th May 2016. On theoccasion Mr. P Senthil Kumar, CEO-Gardener Consulting,Chennai spoke on Leadership Capabilities of EmergingSupply Chain Professionals. He emphasized on thequalities of leadership in Supply Chain Management inany Organization, keeping in view the current andfuturistic challenges.

    This culminated the CEO- level talk initiated on the behestof Golden Jubilee Celebration in the previous month(Discussion on expectation of Supply Chain Managementprofessionals by CEOs- on 9th Apr 2016 & The Futureof Supply Chain in India by Mr. N. K. Ranganath, CEO,Grundfoss Pumps- on the MM Day Celebration).

    Keeping in view the innovative ways of creating efficientvalue chains, after a thorough deliberations the speakerMr. Sourabh Jain, General Manager - Free Trade Zone,Cargo Village and Cargo Airline Marketing, GMRHyderabad International Airport Ltd, handling thevarious types of Supply Chain activities at Rajeev GandhiInternational Airport, Hyderabad, which has establisheditself as the most efficient and sought after Airport inthe Country has been invited to share his invaluableexperiences in the process of establishing Supply Chainsto cater to the various needs of different clientele at theAirports for timely delivery of the critical goods requiredby the industry by delivering a lecture on MAKE IN INDIA Contribution of SCM Professionals In Its Success.

    The technical session was chaired by one of the seniorlife member of IIMM, Hyderabad Branch, Shri. V.K.Mahajen, former General Manager (Materials) of NMDCLimited and the session was attended by all the SeniorOfficers of Materials Management Dept., CommercialDept., and Contracts Department of NMDC Limited apartfrom guests from other PSUs, Private Firms and membersof IIMM, Hyderabad. The technical session was alsoattended by entrepreneurs in various fields of logisticsmanagement and other startup companies and studentspursuing the Materials Management courses.

    The technical session delivered by Shri Sourabh Jain, wasacclaimed by one and all and generated debate oninnovative logistics management by way of question andanswer session.

    To commemorate the Materials Management Day, IndianInstitute of Materials Management, Hyderabad has alsobrought out a Souvenir depicting the mission, objectiveand code of ethics of IIMM, an article on Transparencyin Public Procurement-NMDC showing the leading wayby Shri A. Preetam Kumar, Jt. GM (Materials), NMDCLimited and a message inviting all professionals for the

    NATCOM 2016 to be held during November 2016 atHyderabad.

    In addition to the technical session, the top ranker inthe previous IIMM exams has been awarded the medalinstituted by Shri D.Dasaradha Reddy, SecretaryHyderabad Branch and the certificate by the Speaker andall the Executive Committee Members of IIMMHyderabad Branch were felicitated by the Chief Guestby way of a memento.

    To mark the celebration of Materials Management Day,all the invitees were given a memento by way of a Hatprinted with the theme of Materials Management Day.

    The whole programme was applauded by all the inviteesas a memorable day in the Hyderabad Branch ofMaterials Management.The session ended with vote of thanks and special thanksto NMDC Limited for their encouragement andsponsorship for the programme and dinner to all theinvitees and guests.--------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Shri Bhute initiating the discussions sharing hisexperiences with the Bank (PNB) said that the bank andthe specific Branch he feels to be his branch and he visitsthe branch almost every day and feels very happy. Bankstaff cooperates with me to the extent possible.

    Sqn Ldr. Narendra Nath was requested to share hisexperiences with the Bank as he is the senior mostMember of the Institute. Sqn.Ldr. said that he hasopened his account in Lahore in 1945 before the countrybecame Independant and has cordial relations with theBank and all his work is done without any botherationof standing in queue etc. In addition hospitality is alsooffered by the Bank. He wished all the best to Shri SudhirGarg in the days to come.

    Shri Garg thanked all present and said that this is thefirst when a non banking organisation is honouring himon promotion in Bank for the good work done by him.

    He further said that during his tenure of 5to 6 years inAvadh Region he has learnt a lot. When he was postedfirst to Faizabad he had a staff range of 6 where asimmediately with in 4 years he got a big branch of HALTownship where there is a staff of 36. In addition thebranch has a Foreign Exchange under the guidance ofShri Rajiv Bhargava. He also praised his staff speciallyShri Bhargava who are helping him in achieving histargets be it Loan or deposit. He thanked IIMM Lucknowfor arranging this program in his honor.

    Shri Bhute then requested shri G.P.Srivastava, NC, of theBranch to present a Gift to Shri Garg.

    Branch Chairman Mr. Laxmikant Dashpute welcomed themembers and greeted on occasion of MM Day. In hiswelcome address he stressed the importance of thecelebration of Materials Management Day andImportance of IIMM, in the professional growth of themembers. He also shared future activities of branch andrequested members to take active participation. He madean appeal to make efforts to increase membership inNashik.

    Mr. Mahesh Lele, Hon. Secretary, summarized variouseducation activities and seminars conducted by Nasikbranch during this financial year.

    Mr. Deepak Ratnaparkhi introduced the first speaker Mr.Sudhir Mutalik.

    Mr. Mutalik in his fluent style explained various initiativesof Government since 1991 globalization and comparedthe same with Make In India initiative. Based on factsand figures, he explained that success of this programwill depend on success of MSME, which constitute largerportion of supplies to the bigger industries. Involvementof SCM initiatives at MSME level need more focus if weneed make Make In India to succeed. He invited IIMMto take this as a social challenge and volunteer toimplement SCM best practices in MSME to improve theirproductivity.

    NC Member, Mr. Kogekar, introduced the second speaker,Mr. Umesh Bagnikar.

    Mr. Bagnikar explained the difference in Make in Indiaand Made in India. He explained that Make In India aimsto take benefit of low cost resources in India likemanpower, land, quality and provide a manufacturingbase for companies across the world to cater globaldemand. This will attract big global OEMs to open shopsin India who will in turn need reliable vendor base. Thelocal industries will have to adapt to the OEMs cultures.SCM will have to play bigger role to bring this change tothe shop floors of their suppliers who will be mainlyMSME sectors. Also he expected SCM professionals toget more involved in technicalities of the products andto understand the customer requirements (real needs)and pass it on to the vendors. This will lead to improvedquality at lower price.

    Both the learned speakers stressed upon need IIMMreaching out to MSME segment to adopt latest SCMpractices.

    A two-day workshop was conducted for ThyssenKruppIndia on 7th & 8th June 2016 at their Pimpri Factory,Pune. TKs procurementexecutives from Nasik, Mumbai,and Pune plants participated.

    The Trainers were our Life Fellow &Certified CoreTrainerof MLS, Mr.S.K.Murthy, Director Pune Branchand IIMMs National award winner for Best Faculty andour Life Member (Retd.) Cdr.Kaushik Chakrabarty.Trainers delivered this programme using ITC Genevasslides; they built 6 exercises and two elaborate role plays.

Excellent picturesque and nicely presented.Verystructured manner, which is understandable easily.Topics are interesting & covered nicely. Stratgiesexplained were Great.     Annual General Meeting Report for MMR : The AnnualGeneral Meeting (AGM) of IIMM Pune branch was held28th May 2016 at IIMM Office, Pune. Branch ChairmanMr. K R Nair welcomed all for the 50th AGM meeting.

    Branch Vice Chairman, Mr. Hitendra Admuthe, inabsence of Hon. Secretary Mr. Suhas Gawas, gave a briefreport of the activities carried out by the branch duringthe year 2015 2016 to members present.

    Branch Hon. Treasurer, Mr. Amit Borkar requestedapproval of members for the audited Statement ofAccounts & appointment of Auditors for the year 2016 2017. The same was proposed and seconded bymembers.

    Chairman Mr. K R Nair addressed members & highlightedthe key activities accomplished during this year. He thenrequested National Councillor Mr. S V Gadgil to briefeveryone on the 157th National Council meeting heldon 21st May 206 at Kolkata.

    Mr. S V Gadgil started by giving a brief about the structureof National Council and its role in leading the wayforward for IIMM. He said that Pune Branch is known asone of the top five active branches across India. Heappraised every one of the major highlights of themeeting and topics debated and resolved during themeeting.

    He stressed that Pune has to strive hard for 500+members this year and congratulated Mr. M G Aiyyarfor continuously being first to submit audited financialreport in India.

    National Councillor Mr. Terrence Fernandes thankedeveryone for coming. He also thanked Mr. GaneshDhokane for being a part of IIMM Pune Branch andwished him best for his future. A token of appreciationwas given to him by the hands of Mr. S V Gadgil. Mr.

    Terrence Fernandes also congratulated Co-optedmember Mr. Narhari Wagh for successfully completingtwo levels of IPSCM examinations.
