Introducción
Covadonga es una parroquia del concejo
de Cangas de Onís en Asturias es la única
población, con la categoría de parroquia.

Situación Geográfica
Está en el monte Auseva, en el Concejo de
Cangas de Onis.

Santa Cueva de Covadonga
Allí se encuentra la imagen de la Virgen de
Covadonga y la tumba de Don Pelayo.
Lugar donde se refugiaron los habitantes de
la zona mientras la batalla de Covadonga.

Basílica of Santa Maria la Real of Covadonga
Es un templo religioso de culto católico
romano. Fue declarado Basílica el 11 de
septiembre de 1901.

Lagos
En Covadonga hay multitud de lagos pero
los principales y más destacados son:
• Enol.
• Ercina.

Lago Enol
Es el más grande de los dos. En el lago estásumergida una imagen de lavirgen de Covadonga y todos 8 deseptiembre es elevada para sacarla enprocesión.

Lago Ercina
Tienen origen glaciar al igual que el lago
Enol. Su profundidad máxima es de 3 m.

Covadonga is a parish of the municipality
Cangas de Onis in Asturias is the only

Holy Cave of Covadonga
There is the image of the Virgin of

Basilica de Santa María la Real de Covadonga
It is a Catholic temple of cult. It was declared
a Basilica the September 11th, 1901.

Lakes
In Covadonga there are many lakes but
the most important are:
• Enol.
• Ercina.

Lake Enol
It is the biggest of the two. In the lake thereis an sculpture submerged of Covadonga Virgin and all 8 September is high to get herin procession.

Lake Ercina
It has glacier origin like the lake Enol. Its
maximum depth is 3 m.
