These courses are for non-native English speakers (EU and worldwide) who want to improve their English language skills. The courses are offered at Beginners, Elementary/Pre-intermediate, Intermediate and Upper Intermediate. Each level is carefully structured to help you:
• Improve your reading, writing, speaking & listening skills
• Develop your confidence to communicate in English in different situations (e.g. work, study, life in London)
Our teachers are very experienced and they use the most up-to-date materials and a variety of approaches to make sure that your classes are interesting, motivating and effective. Classes include group, pair and project work as well as computer-based activities. Each centre also has a fully equipped Learning Centre, which students are encouraged to use.
Class sizeYou will learn with students from different nationalities who have the same level of English. At the College, our maximum class size is 24, but the average number of students is 18 and some classes are smaller.
Number of hours per weekFull time English classes run for 15 hours per week at our Soho or Victoria Centres in the heart of London. Part time courses are also available. As we agree a timetable to suit your needs you will usually have more than one teacher.
AssessmentYou will be assessed through regular homework during the course, as well as an end of course test. We are also able to offer an accredited ESOL examination (English Speaking Board or Trinity) in December, March/April and July, if required.
Entry requirementsYou must be aged 18* years or older to take this course. When you arrive at the College, you will need to complete a short test so that we can assess your level of English to ensure that you join a class that is right for you. For students applying from abroad or outside London this test can be taken online by arrangement.
*14-17 year old students are only accepted as a closed group or during the summer (please contact the International Office for further information).
Teaching sitesOur EFL classes take place at our Soho or Victoria Centres in the heart of London.
IELTS is the most widely accepted English language test in the world. Our IELTS preparation course has been designed for non-native English speakers who require an exam for admission to UK institutions and/or for UK visa purposes.
The class runs for 5 hours per week over 12 weeks and is for learners with an intermediate level of English and above.
Summer SchoolEvery year Westminster Kingsway College welcomes students from all around the world to improve their English during the summer period. Full-time English classes run for 15 hours per week for two to eight weeks at our Soho Centre in central London. Optional social and leisure activities are arranged for all summer school students. These activities usually take place on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons throughout the summer and are subject to minimum and maximum class sizes.

Accommodation and airport pick upWe understand that accommodation is a very important part of any stay in London. Our international office will help students find the right accommodation. We work in partnership with some accommodation agents to offer a variety of options depending on taste and budget: Apartment & House Shares from £195 per week (double), Homestays & Private Homes from £135 per week (single) or Halls of Residence from £166 per week (twin/double with en-suite shower room). We can also arrange an airportpick-up.
Course feesCourse fees include all tuition and full use of the Learning Resource Centres. There is an enrolment fee of £25 per learner. Exam fees (where appropriate) are additional. Some optional leisure activities require payment for admission. This is not usually more than £20 per activity. Some classes may be required to purchase a course book (approximately £20). Accommodation, transport and meals are not covered. Westminster Kingsway College has a ‘no refunds’ policy. However, refunds may be considered if any of the circumstances outlined in the College’s Refund Policy have been met.
Leisure programmeWestminster Kingsway College offers students a leisure programme which helps them learn more about life in the UK. The programme is also an opportunity to practise the English skills learned and socialise with other students in the College. The teacher will give more information about the different activities we can offer as this sometimes depends on the time of the year. Some recent examples include trips to:
• The British Library • The British Museum
• Kew Gardens • The London Eye
• The Museum of London • The National Portrait Gallery
• Tate Modern • Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre
• Somerset House • Windsor Castle
All leisure programme activities are optional. Some activities take place during class time and some outside of normal class hours. If an activity is in class time, this will be agreed with all students in advance. Some activities are free but others may require tickets. Tickets are usually no more than £20 (and often much less). A travel card may also be required, which costs approximately £6.
Tailor-made coursesWe provide specialist English language and training programmes for groups throughout the year. The college is able to design and deliver bespoke courses to meet your specific requirements.
