Course Title: Clinical Dentistry 2 Course Credit: 6 units
Course Description: Clinical application of the basic competencies acquired in didactic and pre-clinical courses through patient-based
comprehensive care with provision for referral system for clinical cases beyond acquired competencies, and typodont exercises under close
supervision of clinical supervisors. A written comprehensive examination based on the course requirements will serve as a certification of
completion. Course Requirements: At least 3 adult’s patients with treatment plan
requiring, but not all of the following: Simple and complex tooth restorations
Management of moderate gingivitis Root canal therapy (mono-rooted/multi-rooted)
Complicated tooth extractions / pre-prosthetic surgery
Prosthodontic appliance – single posterior crowns, anterior bridge and RPD
At least 1 pediatric patient in primary or early mixed dentitional period of preventive care with treatment plan requiring, but not all of the following:
Fluoridization Pit and fissure sealing
Simple tooth restorations such as PRR Complete denture cases
Typodont Exercises in Operative Dentistry and Fixed Prosthodontics Comprehensive written examination

Course Title: Basic Dental Implantology
Course Credit: 2 units (lecture) / 1 unit (laboratory) Course Description: Study of the fundamental knowledge about the
biological and scientific basis for implant treatment, including patient evaluation; diagnosis and treatment planning; implant selection, surgery
and prosthodontics procedures; post-surgical care; and maintenance procedures.

Course Title: Dental Public Health 2
Course Credit: 2 units (lecture) / 1 unit (laboratory) Course Description: The study of the concepts, principles and methods in
health service administration, oral health education and promotion, preventive dentistry and primary health care for the community, including
field experience. Course Requirements:
1. Situational analysis and oral health needs assessments of the community

Course Title: Management of Patients with Special Needs
Course Credit: 1 unit (lecture) Course Description: Study of the basic protocols in the management of
patients with special oral health care needs (with physical, development, mental, sensory, behavioral, cognitive or emotional impairment)

Course Title: Jurisprudence and Ethics Course Credit: 2 units (lecture)
Course Description: Study of the Principles of laws, regulations and professional conduct in relation to the practice of dentistry.

Course Description: Study on collaborative practice among health care professionals for the provisions of comprehensive and quality health

Sixth Year, First Semester
Course Title: Clinical Dentistry 3
Course Credit: 10 units Course Description: Clinical application of the competencies acquired in
all the clinical dentistry courses through patient-based comprehensive care, including referrals from Clinical Dentistry 1 & 2 clinicians, and
typodont exercises under conservative supervision of clinical supervisors. A written comprehensive examination based on the course requirements
will serve as a certification of completion. Course Requirements: At least 4 adult patients with treatments plan
requiring, but not all of the following: Simple and complex tooth restorations using new techniques and
materials
Management of moderate periodontitis / Root Planning Root Canal therapy (multi-rooted) / Apicoectomy
Complicated tooth extractions / special oral surgery cases Prosthodontic appliance – posterior bridge and RPD
At least 1 pediatric patient in early mixed dentitional period for preventive/interceptive and corrective care with treatment plan requiring,
but not all of the following: Pit and fissure sealing, Fluoridization, Atraumatic Restorative
Treatments, preventive resin restorations Mixed – dentition restorations
Tooth restorations and extractions Stainless steel crown/ strip-off crown
Pulp Therapy such as Pulpotomy/ Pulp capping Space Maintainer / Regainer
Complete denture cases
Typodont Exercises in Operative Dentistry and Fixed Prosthodontics Comprehensive written examination

Course Title: Hospital Dentistry
Course Credit: 2 units (lecture) / 1 unit (internship) Course Description: Dental internship for senior students at a local or
university training hospital or affiliated hospital designed to orient with hospital decorum, scope and over-all functions of the different
departments and/or divisions. It includes the study of ambulatory and in-patient services, as well as the oral care for medically compromised
patients in a hospital environment and the application of interprofessional practice among health care professionals.
Course Requirement: 1. Rotation in the different departments and/or divisions of affiliated

Course Credit: 1 unit Course Description: Discussion of complex cases and problems

Course Credit: 10 units Course Description: Clinical application of the competencies acquired in
all the clinical dentistry courses through patient-based comprehensive
care, including referrals from Clinical Dentistry 1, 2 and 3 clinicians, and typodont exercises under minimal supervision of clinical supervisors.
Clinical proficiency examinations based on the course requirements will serve as a certification of completion and prerequisites for graduation.
Course Requirements: At least 4 adult patients with treatment plan requiring, but not all of the following:
Esthetics dentistry / Complex tooth restorations using a new techniques and materials
Surgical management of periodontitis or endo-perio cases or complicated tooth extractions / special or oral, maxillo – facial surgery
cases Prosthodontics appliance using new techniques and materials
At least 1 very young pediatric patient for preventive care with treatment plan requiring, but not all of the following:
Fluoride varnish treatment Stainless Restorative Treatments / Preventive resin restorations
Complete denture cases Typodont Exercises in Operative Dentistry and Fixed Prosthodontics
