B. Course Objectives and Learning Outcomes
1. Course Description This course introduces the basic of parasitology, where study includes method of classification
of protozoa and helminthic parasites. Also the course includes the study of the shape, physiology, structure and vital infections, life cycle and pathology with brief description of
clinical picture to determine the most suitable sample for diagnosis using microscopic
examination or laboratory tests and the step used to identify the parasites. In addition to the
mode of transmission, method of control and prevention of the disease. The course is designed also for practice the basic skills and techniques as well as the quality control of stool
examination and techniques as well as the quality control of staining blood films for
parasitological examination as well as arthropods of medical importance.
2. Course MainObjective 1- Study of classification of parasites.
2- Recognizing the parasite Structure, life cycle, nutrition, mode of transmission, pathogenesis & clinical picture. .
3- Understanding host parasite relationship
4- Understanding methods of diagnoses of parasitic diseases.
5- Recognizing methods of treatment, prevention and control of parasitic infections.
