The Publishers of the weekly COUNTY PRESS would like to thank the men and women of our county law-enforcement agencies who put their lives on the line each and every day. The “narratives” by the first responders describe the events, reports

are written by officers at the conclusion of their investigations and arresting the offenders. The COUNTY PRESS publish a small sample of the work performed by officers each and every day. We, as publishers, do not alter in any way, these “public information documents”, all the narratives and “mug-shots” are supplied by area law-enforcement agencies.

CBS. The 92-

announce the move at the end of this

Sunday's essay, which the network notes

will be No. 1,097 since 1978. Though a

network fixture, Rooney has run into

repeated criticism that he's out of touch with

modern culture, notes the TVNewser blog.

"There's nobody like Andy and there

never will be," says CBS News chief Jeff

Fager. "His contributions to 60 Minutes are

immeasurable; he's also a great friend. It's

harder for him to do it every week, but he

will always have the ability to speak his

yesterday after

41 years on the

lam. Even the

bare bones of his rap sheet nearly defy belief, as

CNN and AP recount: In 1962, he murdered a

gas station owner (a highly decorated WWII vet)

during a robbery; he escaped from prison in 1970

(reportedly by stealing the warden's car), then

went underground with the Black Liberation

Army.

In 1972, while dressed as a priest, he and

others hijacked a plane to Algiers (after making

FBI agents dress in bathing suits to deliver

ransom money).

Algeria returned the plane and money but

allowed the hijackers to disappear, which they

did with help from Black Panther activist

Eldridge Cleaver, who was living in the country.

Wright remained on the loose for four decades

until a dogged New Jersey corrections officer got

a lead (possibly because Wright contacted

relatives in the US) that resulted in his arrest.

Wright is fighting extradition back to the US.

One other tidbit: The 1972 hijacking led to

stricter airport security rules, requiring for the

first time that all passengers and their handbags

be screened.

Representative Rehwinkel Vasilinda

Files Death Penalty

Repealer Bill

SEPTEMBER 27, 2011 Tallahassee – Amid growing

concerns over the possible execution of

wrongfully convicted prisoners and the

exorbitant cost to the state, State Representative

Michelle Rehwinkel Vasilinda (D-Tallahassee)

has filed House Bill 4051, which would end the

death penalty in Florida.

"I'm not in the business of dispensing

vengeance. As a state representative, I am in the

business of making decisions to help keep

Floridians safe from crime while spending

taxpayer money prudently. HB 4051 will achieve both goals,‖ said

Representative Michelle Rehwinkel Vasilinda.

Executions are carried out at staggering cost to taxpayers. In its

2000 report, ―The High Price of Killing Killers,‖ the Palm Beach Post

found that Florida spent approximately $51 million each year to enforce

the death penalty.

―It cost at least $51 million a year and over 30 years to arrive at the

day of execution for Manuel Valle, who is scheduled to be put to death

by what may be Governor Scott's first signature on a death warrant.

With that $51 million we could put 850 law enforcement officers on

Florida's streets, as well as adding more FDLE investigators and

equipment to our arsenal against crime,‖ said Representative Rehwinkel

Vasilinda.

Life without parole is a sensible alternative to the death penalty.

Almost every state in the country now has life in prison without parole.

Unlike decades ago, a sentence of life without parole means exactly

what it says – convicts locked away in prison until they die. In reality, it

is much less expensive to keep a criminal in prison for life without

parole than it is for the state to execute them. A sentence of life in

prison without parole allows mistakes to be corrected or new evidence

to come to light. That would increase faith and fairness in our justice

system.

In addition, state sponsored executions have been unjustly applied;

innocent people have been killed; and each execution cause rifts in the

fabric of our civil society. All of this when we could be turning our

attention and spending our time and money toward solving our state's

many challenges. The recent protests and national concern over the

execution of Troy Davis is emblematic of the lack of trust more and

more people are demonstrating in the justice and accuracy of state

sponsored executions. That is not good for the respect and dignity for

the law.

"One of the underlying questions in the debate about state-sponsored

executions is what is the proper role and place of government? The

appropriate question for state government is how do we keep people

safe from crime in the most cost effective way? When you analyze the

numbers, state sponsored execution is not the correct answer," says Rep.

Rehwinkel Vasilinda.

Solyndra, “the future of green energy”

By Ron Hart

“an insane business model. The

numbers just don’t work, and

they never did.”

Peter Lynch, a solar industry

analyst on Solyndra

In 2008 and until an intervention in the

form of the 2010 elections, the Democrats had a

supermajority with the House, Senate and Presidency.

They looted the country like it was Katrina again,

knowing the cops would soon be there.

A part of that was a $535 million ―fast tracked‖ loan to

Solyndra that was sped up so Obama could visit them

and use them in a speech applaud himself. The loan was

denied under Bush.

Trumpeted by Obama as the future of green energy,

Solyndra, with accumulated losses of $558 million in its

five-year existence, filed bankruptcy. Solyndra went

broke leaving us tax payers with the bill, so I guess

Obama was right, that is the future of his deals.

We learned that community organizing is not the best

training to be a venture capitalists. Solyndra’s solar

panels did not work well; turns out Snooki from The

Jersey Shore absorbs more sunlight. We could have

created more energy by burning our $535 million in one

dollar bills in a power plant. That technically is green-

back energy, so Obama can brag about that.

This is what happens with Chicago-style crony

capitalism. The business fails, the tax payers foot the bill

and political friend rack up. Ex- Mass. Gov. Weld will

do well too; he will charge $800 an hour to lawyer the

bankrupt company. It’s called reaching across the aisle.

Al Gore, a government employee for life, broke the

code on getting rich on this green energy scam.

Celebrity Networth says Gore has over $100 million.

entrance. I exited my car and

asked the subject to talk to me.

The subject said "I aint done

nothing" and began rapidly

pedaling away from me. I

began pursuing the subject on

foot west bound on 17th

Street. Just before the subject

approached Frankford Avenue,

Ofc. Harris arrived in his

patrol car. Ofc. Harris was

positioned next to the subject

with his lights and siren

activated in an attempt to stop

the subject. The subject bailed

off of his bicycle in the 2100

block of west 17th street. At

this time I was still running

about thirty yards behind the

subject and Ofc. Harris. I

observed Ofc. Harris and the

subject struggle for a brief

moment where the subject

broke free and continued to

run west bound. The subject

jumped a fence into the back

yard of 1701 Clay Avenue and

continued in an unknown

direction. Several other units

arrived in the area in an

attempt to locate this subject.

The bicycle was placed into

impound at the Panama City

Police department. Ofc. Harris

recovered a 22 caliber Ruger

handgun from when he

struggled with the subject. Ofc.

Harris turned this gun over to

this officer. The gun was found

to be stolen out of Escambia

County in 2001. The gun was

placed into evidence and will

be sent off for prints along

with the magazine and

ammunition. It is unknown at

this time as to the identity of

the subject.

him and place it on the ground

behind the table leg in attempt

to conceal it from my view. As

I approached the men, I

identified myself and the

his attempt to conceal the

bottle from my view. I advised

him being in possession of an

while inside a city park is

illegal. I observed the same

opened bottle that he had

attempted to conceal in plain

view on the ground behind the

table leg. There was no other

bottle on the ground in the

place he concealed his bottle. I

observed the pop top was off

and I could smell the odor of

alcohol coming from the bottle

and from Mathis breath. I

recovered the open bottle of

bud ice lager 5.5% alcohol by

volume beer and properly

disposed of it. That fact that he

attempted to conceal the beer

from us, supported the fact

that he knew alcohol was

illegal inside the park and that

he was committing a crime,

because if it was any other non

-alcohol beverage, he would

not have tried to conceal it. I

placed Mathis under arrest for

violating M.O. 3-3 which

prohibits one from possession

and open alcoholic beverage

while inside a city park. He

was then transported to the

Bay County Jail, where he was

charged accordingly.

On 9-23-2011 around 7:00

p.m. I was working an off-

duty detail at the Grocery

Outlet. I was approached by

the suspect who stated that he

had asked a subject for money

and he told him to get away

from him and the suspect felt

that the other person treated

him wrong. I advised him that

he did not need to be asking

for money. He stated that he

knew that. The other party

walked over and advised me

of what had took place but did

not wish any type of actions

be done. I advised the suspect

that he need to go find another

place to hang out for the night.

He began to walk away and

yelled at the employee "fxxx

you" and shot him a bird.

When the suspect did this

there were several small kids

walking out of the store. I

advised the suspect that he

was under arrest for disorderly

conduct. I completed all

paperwork on the suspect and

he was transported to the Bay

said she new there was about to be a fight.

She saw Marcus Leverett approaching her

brother/ XXXXXX. She tried to intervene

when the two started fighting. I told her to

contact me Monday at school so I could

On 09-26-2011 I made contact with

XXXXXX and his mother in my office. I

explained to them the charges pending.

Regina Biggs said there were more

witnesses. I told her to have them contact

me at Bay High School and I would take a

sworn statement. Regina said XXXXXX

was holding a baby when the fight started.

The night of the incident Rogers said she

was holding the babies. Biggs said that

"Cito" (XXXX XXXXXXX) had

displayed a firearm in his belt that Rogers

saw. However Roger talked to me and

Sgt. Guilford that night and never

mentioned a firearm to either on of us.

Biggs wanted her son to provide a written

statement, but declined when I told her he

would need to sign a waiver of right form

first.

The candy bar case Bay County Sheriff's Office Offense / Incident Report

Casenumber: 2011-065454 Reported On: 09/25/2011 @ 13:09

Location: 2117 SHERMAN AVE PANAMA CITY, FL 32405

Business Name: HILAND PARK BALL PAR

Testimony: FOUND THE OPEN DOOR TO THE CONCESSION STAND

Narrative On this date I responded to the Hiland Park Ball fields

in reference to a burglary of the concession stand. Upon arrival I

spoke to James Holt. James advised me he brought his kids to the

park to play and noticed the concession stand door was ajar. He

peeked in but did not see anyone. He then called the Sheriff's

Office to report there might be a burglary.

I went inside and noticed candy all over the floor along with

some cans of soda. The cabinet the cash register was on had been

pried open. It was apparent there were candy items missing as

there were blank spaces on the shelf. I went outside and observed

a picnic table pushed against the wall and what appeared to be

hand prints going into the open window. The window had bars

but there was plenty of room for a child to go in. I photographed

the immediate area including a shoe print in the dirt directly

under the picnic table.

I looked in the trash cans in the

park and started to find candy bar

boxes. At the picnic table near the

playground, I located three more boxes

and a debris trail where it appeared the

suspects were dropping things as they

left. Some of the chocolate was on the

ground and had not started to melt.

I also noted there were no ants on the spilled candy bars which

were unwrapped. I spoke to Deputy Duggins who arrived and he

said he was here a couple hours ago and observed a large group

of individuals playing baseball. I found the same shoe print along

with another distinct print near the picnic table. I followed the

shoe prints all the way to the back walking gate in patches of

sand onto E 19th place. The same distinct prints traveled along

this road to Sherman Ave then onto Gannon Circle where they

disappeared about 50 yards down the road in the dirt.

I returned to the concession and was later met by parks

worker Eddie Warren. He advised me he did not know if

anything was stolen or if the damaged cabinet was already like

that. I explained to him I located several empty boxes of candy

bars in the area and needed to determine if they were stolen. He

called someone else and advised me it would be Monday before

anyone could tell me anything. Dep Duggins dusted the cabinet

and windows for latents but found none that were usable.

Since Eddie was unable to help with the investigation and

there was not going to be anyone else enroute from the Parks

Dept, I gave him a case number and a list of items I needed such

as dollar amounts and items missing. The building was then re

secured. This case is pending.

Slain clerk laid to rest in Fort Myers FORT MYERS. All day Monday, Back Bay Market remained closed after this

weekend's deadly robbery. Outside the store family and friend lit candles in

memory of 29-year-old Muhammad Ali. His funeral service was held at 3pm

Monday afternoon at Lee Memorial Park in east Lee County. Ali was working

early Sunday morning at the convenient store on Ortiz Avenue, when two

men dressed in Halloween costumes robbed the store and seriously injured

Ali, who died a few hours later from his injuries.

Upon my arrival I made contact with

MEGAN HATCHELL who had been

SNIPES was cussing and yelling advising

me to take her to jail. WENDY stated that

she grabbed LESLIE VANDYKE by the

DEPUTY JACKSON and DEPUTY

I again tried to speak with MEGAN

the attack. LESLIE is currently dating

MEGAN advised me that LESLIE has

I advised MEGAN that I didn't

understand why she went out in the street

to speak with JONATHAN about their

that LESLIE was wanting to fight her

MEGAN stated that she thought she had

about their daughter. MEGAN further

stated that she doesn't know how

JONATHAN got a bloody nose.

WENDY stated that her friend

Incident # 11-10773 On 09/20/2011, at approximately

1950 hours, I was dispatched to

208 East Baldwin Road, The

Enclaves, apartment S for a

burglary of a vehicle. I made

contact with Darrell Crawford.

Mr. Crawford told me that at

approximately 1800 hours he

entered his maroon 2000

Plymouth Voyager van to go to

Wal-Mart. As he arrived at Wal-

Mart and turned the vehicle off

he did not hear his Garmin Nuvi

GPS beep, which usually does.

He then looked on his

windsheild and noticed the

Garmin was not where he last

left it. His Garmin is always in

his vehicle and in a holder that is

attached to the windshield and

plugged into a cigarette lighter.

Mr. Crawford said he parked

his vehicle in front of his

apartment building, 208, around

1800 hours on 09/19/2011 and

did not go back to the vehicle

until 1800 hours on this date.

The vehicle did not appear to

have any signs of forced entry.

Mr. Crawford was not sure if he

locked his doors. After speaking

with Mr. Crawford about this

incident he returned to into his

apartment and I walked by his

vehicle to check if he locked it

after we had just looked inside.

The vehicle was not locked so I

locked it for him. It should be

noted that on this date at

approximately 1746 hours, a

resident of the Enclave

Apartments called the Lynn

Haven Police Department for 2

suspicious black males walking

through the parking lot looking

into vehicles. I responded to that

call but did not find anyone

matching that description

looking into vehicles.

The Garmin Nuvi 265T serial

number is 1RD009517. Dispatch

entered this information into

NCIC/FCIC as stolen property.

Alabama Town Enacts

'Jesus or Jail' Plan

Misdemeanor offenders can choose between

church and jail

It's either Jesus or jail for small-time offenders in Bay

Minette, Alabama. Operation Restore Our Community is

kicking off there this week, giving misdemeanor offenders

the choice between a year of Sunday church services or fines

and jail, Raw Story reports. Pastors invented the program on

the presupposition that crime is caused by "the erosion of

family values and morals," the town's police chief says. "We

have children raising children and parents not instilling

values in young people."

Alabama's ACLU office calls the plan "blatantly

unconstitutional" and is "considering options for response." A

Think Progress writer notes that even conservative Justice

Antonin Scalia would condemn the plan for using the threat

of penalty to coerce participation in religion. But one pastor

rebuffed criticism, saying, "You show me somebody who

falls in love with Jesus, and I'll show you a person who won't

be a problem to society."

with me. WENDY also kept telling me to

take her to jail, and was out of control.

I then walked next door to

JONATHANs where I met him and

LESLIE. JONATHAN was covered in

blood from a busted nose and stated that

during the Battery, he tried to separate

LESLIE & MEGAN.

During that time MEGAN hit him

several times to the nose. JONATHAN

stated that he did not want to pursue

charges and he would not cooperate with

us in reference to the Battery.

JONATHAN and LESLIE both stated

that MEGAN had been threatening

LESLIE tonight. MEGAN came out in

front of the residence with what they

thought was a bat. LESLIE went and

spoke with MEGAN about her threatening

her. During that time MEGAN put the

wooden club in her face, then hit her in

the right arm with the club.

LESLIE advised me that after she was

hit with the weapon, she grabbed it and

grabbed MEGAN by the hair. She then

started defending herself by hitting

MEGAN to the face and she ended up

biting her on the back.

LESLIE then walked Cpl BENNET to

the side of the street where she recovered

the club that she was attacked with. The

club was collected and submitted into

evidence.

While we were questioning MEGAN

again with the new information, I asked

Deputy JACKSON to start clearing the

scene with people that did not to be here

as people were starting to show up.

It was starting to get out of control and

becoming a officer safety issue. Deputy

JACKSON spoke with WENDY and her

mother, who started cussing him. Both

WENDY and NANCY refused to comply

with a lawful command and was actively

interfering with an investigation.

I advised Deputy

JACKSON to arrest

WENDY. As WENDY was

being placed in restraints

NANCY became irate.

I then took control of

NANCY. As I was placing

her in restraints and trying to

transport her to the vehicle,

she turned on me while she

was screaming. ...CONTINUED ON PAGE 47

I was unsure if NANCY was going to

Bay County Sheriff's Office Offense / Incident Report Casenumber: 2011-065411

Reported On: 09/25/2011 @ 09:03 Location: 520 N GAY AVE PANAMA CITY, FL 32404

Officer Reporting: B. GARRISON Arrest Name: SWINSON, JAI, K

Address: 2500 E 6TH ST, PANAMA CITY, FL 32401 Date Of Birth: 02/28/1975 Age: 36

Arrest Location: 520 N GAY AVE Arresting Officer: GARRISON Charge: DOMESTIC BATTERY

Narrative On this date I responded to 520 N Gay Ave in reference to a Battery

complaint. Upon arrival I spoke to Dorothy Agyei. She advised her ex boyfriend

with whom she lived with for six years as a family came to her residence this

morning, shoved her down and then got on top of her and pinned her down by

placing his hands on her neck. She identified the male as Jai Swinson.

According to Dorothy, she and Jai broke up about a month ago after she caught

him cheating on her. Jai moved out then back into the residence on Gay Ave for a

week before moving out for good.

Dorothy says all of Jai's belongings have been taken to his new residence.

According to Dorothy, she arrived home this morning and called a male friend to

come visit with her. After the male arrived Dorothy and the male were sitting

outside. A short while later Jai showed up with a black female Dorothy identified

as the one she caught him cheating with. Jai approached her and an argument

ensued about the other male being there.

Jai pulled and shoved at Dorothy until the neck

strap on her dress broke

and she fell to the ground.

Jai then got on

top of her and put

his hands around

her neck and

squeezed and told

her he will kill her if

he catches another

man at this house.

The incident was broken up by the female that arrived with Jai. After this the still

unidentified female punched Dorothy in the face and Dorothy punched her back.

Dorothy's room mate Daniel Poncel came outside and broke everything up.

Jai and the female left the scene. Dorothy advised me she was terrified he

was going to come back and hurt her. I obtained a recorded statement from

Dorothy. While speaking with her I located an earring in the dirt which she said

was hers from being thrown down. I gave her a domestic violence pamphlet with

the appropriate signature page. I then went to where Jai was staying but nobody

would answer the door.

A short while later Jai showed back up at Dorothy's residence and was taken

into custody. At this time Dorothy signed a victim notification form. Jai was

taken to the Bay County Jail where he was held.

A copy of this report has been faxed to the Salvation Army Shelter.

Knox a 'Satanic She-

Devil,' Court Told

As closing arguments continue in

Amanda Knox’s murder-conviction appeal,

the court heard today that the American

student may look like an angel but is

actually a "she-devil." Knox initially

accused bar owner Patrick Lumumba of

killing her roommate, Meredith Kercher,

and his lawyer told the court that Knox is

both a saint ―and a satanic, diabolic she-

devil given to borderline behavior,‖

Reuters reports.

Carlo Pacelli also asked the court to

judge Knox ―based on her personality

when the crime occurred in November

2007,‖ rather than being swayed by the

image of a tired, gaunt woman who has

spent four years in prison. When Kercher

was murdered, Knox ―was a concentrated

mix of sex, drugs, and alcohol‖ who ―loved

strong emotions and dangerous games,‖ he

said.

Incident # 11-10714

On September 19, 2011 at

approximately 1645 hours I

was dispatched to the Lynn

Haven Walmart at 2101 S

Hwy 77 in regards to a retail

theft. Upon arrival, I made

contact with Sarah Day, Asset

Protection Associate for

Walmart.

Sarah Day informed me

that she and two other

Walmart Associates had

observed two white females,

later identified by Florida

identifications as Ruth Ann

Heath and Melissa Nicole

Ducker, conceal various items

of jewelry and clothing inside

their purses and bypass all

points of sale on their way to

the door on the grocery side of

Walmart. Sarah Day provided

me with a written sworn

witness statement stating these

facts as well as receipts to

establish value. The witness

statement and receipts are

attached to the report.

Melissa Nicole Ducker and

Ruth Ann Heath did openly

admit to me that they had

taken the merchandise. Heath

further stated that she just

wanted to cooperate and

hopefully receive a court date

instead of going to jail.

After requesting a wants

and warrants check from

dispatch, dispatch notified me

that Ruth Ann Heath had an

active warrant out of Calhoun

County. Ruth Heath gave her

personal property including

her purse and a watch to

Melissa Ducker. At that time, I

placed Ruth Ann Heath under

arrest and escorted Heath

along with Melissa Ducker

outside to the patrol car in the

parking lot. After placing

Heath inside the patrol car, I

issued Melissa Ducker a

Notice To Appear, returned

her driver's license, and

allowed her to leave. The

Notice to Appear is attached to

the report.

Ruth Heath was then taken to

the Bay County Jail and

booked in under F.S.S.

While at the jail, I walked to

BCSO Warrants division to

obtain a copy of Heath's

warrant. Deputy Meeks and

Deputy Price made contact

with dispatch and advised me

that Calhoun County would

fax them their copy of the

warrant. I walked back to

female booking and relayed to

Cpl. Helms that the warrant

was being faxed, and

I provided her with a

Sept. 27, 2011 According to the State Attorney’s Office: King Edward Sherman, 39, was convicted at trial in Marianna on Tuesday of burglary of a

dwelling and dealing in stolen property. Assistant State Attorney Larry Basford showed jurors

that Sherman and John Wayne Lincoln broke into a home at 4580 Bates Road, Greenwood,

between midnight and 2 the morning of Nov. 27 and stole a flat-screen television, which they

sold later that day. Lincoln then continued his burglary spree by going to the home of Vivian

Ford, who he ended up killing when she unexpectedly answered his knock at the door. Lincoln

pleaded guilty to his charges, including this burglary with Sherman, and the murder charge and

was sentenced to life in prison. Sherman, who has four prior felony convictions, faces up to 30

Authorities round up

prescription-drug sting

…......as reported by the St. Petersburg Times...

Phony prescriptions were printed out on a home computer and passed out to "runners" who got

them filled at local pharmacies.

Then the pain pills were divvied up: half for the runner to keep, half for the drug dealer to sell

at street prices that, in some parts of Florida, are up to 30 times what they cost at a pharmacy.

Authorities said that's how more than 400,000 30-milligram oxycodone tablets got into the

wrong hands during a nine-month span beginning in October 2009.

On Monday, several local law enforcement agencies launched a multi-jurisdictional effort to

arrest some of the members of a sophisticated Tampa Bay area drug trafficking ring.

"These criminals don't know any boundaries and neither should we," said Pasco County Sheriff

Chris Nocco.

By day's end, officials had located 41 of the 72 people sought in the second phase of Operation

No Appointment Necessary. Some were already in local jails; others were arrested in Pinellas,

Pasco and Hernando counties. The first phase, which began in March, has so far netted 66 of 94

suspects. And investigators had previously made about 140 other arrests in connection with the

case.

Monday's sweep was a joint effort between the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office Countywide

Diversion Task Force, the Pasco County Sheriff's Office, the Hernando County Sheriff's Office and

the New Port Richey Police Department.

"A lot of people get involved because of addiction situations," Alfonso said. "They are addicted

to these painkillers and they have to feed their addiction by going out and getting these pills and

then they sell them as well as using them."

Oxycodone pills that cost about $1 apiece at a pharmacy are going for $8 to $15 on the

street in the Tampa Bay area, Alfonso said. In more rural areas of North Florida, they can

bring as much as $30 a pill.

Cantaloupe Death Toll

Rising, May Hit 16 CDC reports 13 confirmed

deaths and 72 illnesses from

listeria outbreak

Health officials say at least 13

people have died from possible

listeria illnesses traced to Colorado

cantaloupes, making it the deadliest

food outbreak in more than a

decade. The CDC said today that 72

illnesses and 13 deaths are linked to

the tainted fruit. Most of the victims

were age 60 or older, with seniors

and young children the most

susceptible, notes the New York

Times. State and local officials are

investigating three additional deaths

that may be connected.

The figures released by the CDC,

including newly confirmed deaths in

Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska and

Texas, surpassed the number of

deaths linked to an outbreak of

salmonella in peanuts almost three

years ago. Nine people died in that

outbreak. Last week, the CDC

reported deaths in Colorado, New

Mexico, Oklahoma, and Maryland.

The cantaloupes are marketed

under the name Rocky Mountain

cantaloupes.

Shaking down opportunities for money using the

government as the heavy is a great gig for ex-Democrats

with no real marketable business skills. It combines

pretending you can harness the sun for energy, with the

salesmanship of Bernie Madoff. The cool thing is that you

never really have to produce a product people want to buy,

just say you will.

Like Chrysler, when Obama circumvented 200 years of

bankruptcy law to benefit them, Billionaire George Kaiser

(the original investor in Solyndra) finagled a deal where

his investment gets paid back in front of the United States’

$535 billion loan. Coincidence I am sure, but he was one

of the biggest donors to Obama in 2008.

Also, on Monday information came out that the

Democrat Party in California was listed as a creditor of

the bankruptcy filing. The Dems in California took

exception; they are usually viewed as a liability.

Of course they put this business in California, a solidly

liberal Democrat strong hold with the worst

unemployment rate in the country to show for it. The

unemployment would be worse in California had they not

had be boom of health food stores turned in to marijuana

dispensaries the last few years. The only growing business

there is company relocation concerns helping

corporation’s exodus the state. California also funds

college for illegal immigrants helping them realize the

dream of going from an employed farm worker, to

collecting unemployment as a Cal Berkley grad in Art

History—the new ―American Dream‖ under Obama.

Obama has long preached the green energy religion to

his followers, but I wonder; is he the televangelist himself,

smoothly snookering saps out of their money, or the mark

who sends his paycheck in to the preachers on TV because

they are convincing?

Like with tent preachers, God is a great partner: he is a

powerful influence on customers and does not take a cut

of the tithes. It is similar with government shake down

artists: the government is a powerful partner with free

money, and only takes political kickbacks.

Solyndra is not about wasted money and political

payback. It is about the scope and role of government, and

the notion that they should pick winners and losers in

what used to be our private sector. Does Obama know

more than 310 million Americans, and 7 billion people

worldwide about what we want and what we are willing to

pay for it? Let the marvel that is the markets do this for us,

it has done a fantastic job so far and not only does it not

cost us anything, and you can tax it—Obama has to like

that. Ron Hart, a libertarian syndicated op-ed humorist, award-winning author and TV/radio

Statement from Governor Rick Scott Regarding Rosh Hashanah SEPTEMBER 28, 2011 Tallahassee, Fla. – “Tonight at sundown marks the beginning of

Rosh Hashanah, a new year for the Jewish people. This sacred time also begins the

period of High Holy Days, a time of spiritual renewal and reflection for many Floridians.

“During this season, I am reminded of the joys of faith and family and the universal quest

to grow closer to our Maker. May the call of the shofar remind us all of the importance

of tradition and values in these challenging times. “The High Holy Days should also

remind us of the invaluable freedoms we enjoy as Americans and the brave men and

women who protect those freedoms at home and abroad. It is also important to

remember the contributions the Jewish community make to our state and nation’s

diverse heritage and spiritual makeup.

“Ann and I wish all Floridians observing the High Holy Days a happy and healthy New Year. L’shanah tova!”
