The sale of the colonial-style late 1990s Burradoo property Patchdale settled over summer at $5,875,000. It was
sold to the McBride family through Karl Zabel, of Drew Lindsay Real Estate who secured the sale after its first inspection. Patchdale last traded four years ago when the Cuddy family paid $3.275 million when buying from Boost Media chairman George Buschman and his wife, Belinda. The sale of the 6000 square metre property bettered the long-standing Burradoo record of $5.6 million when Margaret McCauley Real Estate sold Lowanbrae in June 2005.
Investment banker Ray Shorrocks and his wife Stephanie have emerged as the buyers of White Birch Farm at Robertson from
film industry couple Tony Williams and Anna Hewgill. Artist John Olsen used the studio on the property to paint his mural The King Sun and the couple produced a documentary film about Olsen creating the work. Williams and Hewgill paid $1.95 million in 2007 for the 10 hectare holding which includes around five hectares of rainforest. Di Jones Southern Highlands agent Lisa-Marie Cauchois sold the five bedroom main homestead with separate two bedroom cottage for $3.8 million.
Popular Sutton Forest wedding venue Montrose House Estate has sold for $4.125 million, the village’s
biggest sale of 2019. It was sold by the gas energy analyst Bruce Robertson and his wife Fiona who paid $2.6 million in 2009. The heritage listed four bedroom
homestead, built in the 1860s, with a separate two bedroom cottage has operated as a wedding venue since 1988. A covered verandah wraps around the homestead which sits in 13 hectares of heritage-listed old English gardens. Montrose House Estate was once owned by the Badgery family, the renowned pioneering pastoralist family of the 19th century. Kate Maday and Henry Chapel at One Agency sold the property.
Old Meadows at Bowral has sold for $2.6 million. The Holly Street home was sold by Garry Studd,
senior pilot for Skytraders, and his wife Heather. Set on 6700 square metres, the updated 1880s-built residence has five bedrooms, four bathrooms, three living spaces, two study areas and a kitchen with an AGA stove. The park-like gardens feature a mix of mature deciduous and evergreen trees, privacy hedges, wisteria, camellias and roses, as well as a fruit orchard. The couple listed the home with a guide of $2.75 million through The Agency’s Ben Olofsen and Cameron McKillop, who found a buyer in 36 days.
Ray White Bowral agent Gene Fairbanks and new recruit Michael Maloney have taken over the
marketing of Burradoo trophy home Patchway over a year after it was first listed with a $5.95 million guide. The grand home last sold for $4.175 million in 2014 when it was bought by former Hambros Australia managing director Ed Blackadder and his wife Elaine. Set on 8370 square metres, the two level mansion has four bedrooms, five bathrooms and a library.
Model Carlie Grima and her husband, marketing industry operative Simon Philby, have
bought Glenhurst in Burradoo. The couple paid $2.26 million for the 4605 square
metre estate with a 1990s-built homestead designed to embrace the charm of the colonial past. With a number of period features including bullnose verandahs and ornate, domed ceilings, Glenhurst has five bedrooms, three bathrooms, media room and a freestanding, self-contained cottage. Sold by Drew Lindsay Real Estate agent Sandie Dunne, the home that last traded for $1.2 million in 2013.
Bidura, an original Californian bungalow in Bowral, has been listed for sale for $2.95 million. The full
brick stucco home on Merrigang Street features a wide, north-facing verandah and lichen-tinged, slate tile roof. Interiors have retained timber panelled walls, open fireplaces and leadlight windows and doors. There are five bedrooms, two bathrooms and a billiard room with full-sized antique billiards table, accessed by a hidden timber staircase. Gardens on the 5690 square metre property are filled with century-old conifers, deciduous trees and shrubs. There’s also a heritage-listed croquet lawn with a shady timber pavilion.
The Gate Keeper’s Lodge in Burradoo, built in the early 1900s, has sold after spending less than two
weeks on the market. The home on 2005 square metres was listed at $2.65 million through W M Carpenter Real Estate agent Andrew De Montemas. It last traded for $1.75 million in 2015 when it was known as The Gatekeeper’s Cottage, set in the Anglewood Estate. With established gardens, the property has five bedrooms, four bathrooms and a conservatory.
Melford, the 1920s Bowral trophy home, has been listed for sale following its renovation. Nicholas
Barrett, who bought the property in 2017 for $1.9 million, is asking $2.7 million through Raine & Horne agent Lynette Anstee. The Queen Street home on 4015 square metres has six bedrooms, two living areas, ballroom and billiards room. The master suite has a marble bathroom and library. There’s a separate studio pavilion with sauna, as well as another studio with separate accommodation.
