Lesson 4
There are a few ways you can customize your country communication website. In this lesson, you will learn
how to:
Create other pages, such as a landing page and video gallery.
Create forms, such as a contact us, feedback, and story submission form.
Check links, edit pages, and archive teasers on a page.
View statistics for a page.

Understanding Landing Pages You can customize your country communication page by creating landing pages. A landing page contains
teasers that link to articles or other web pages related to a specific topic. For example, the two landing pages
below are about special topics: On the left, is a page the Central America Area created for youth. This page
links to the youth websites on LDS.org as well as to articles for youth. On the right is a page the Mexico
Area created for Church history in Mexico. It links to articles about early pioneers, manuals for teaching
Church history, and tips for writing personal histories.

The Central America Area also created a landing page for
locations. Instead of the regular Locations page, the area uses
this page, which provides links to the Locations page for each
country in the area.
Creating Landing Pages
1. In LDS Publisher, click the top left
corner to open the menu, and select
New Page from Template.

2. Select the locale, if needed.
3. From the Template list, select
Landing Page.
Note: You can also create a locations
page and list of sites page (similar to
the Church Websites page).
4. Enter a relative path. This becomes
the last part of the URL for this page.
Usually it begins with a slash (/) and is
followed by the title of the page, such
as: /getting-started-with-family-history.
Follow URL standards; do not use
commas or spaces. Instead of spaces,
use hyphens between words.
5. Click Save.
6. At the top right corner, click the
Edit button to open the menu, and
select Add Landing Page Feature.
7. Similar to creating a teaser, add the
headline (or link title), URL address,
search for an image, and add the alt
text.
8. Click Save. Then click Done.
Note: If you leave the URL field
blank, this section becomes a title and
picture only at the top of the page.

9. Below the large picture, click the
Edit button to open the menu, and
select Add Teaser.
10. Add the information for the teaser:
link title, URL, sequence number,
image, image alt text, and description
text.
11. Click Save. Then click Done.
Note: You can add as many teasers as
you need. However, it is best to have
six or fewer teasers so the page does
not get too long.

12. Add a link on the Home page to
direct users to your new landing page.
You can:
Add a link to the Area Links
section of the right sidebar.
Add a teaser.
When creating the link, use the path
you created for your landing page as
the URL. (In our example, we used:
/getting-started-with-family-history.)
Creating a Video Gallery
You can create a page that displays several videos (a video gallery).
1. Click the top left corner to open the
menu, and select New Page from
Template.
2. Select the locale, if needed.
3. From the Template list, select Video
Gallery.
4. Enter a relative path. This becomes
the last part of the URL for this page.
Usually it begins with a slash (/) and is
followed by the title of the page, such
as: /youth-activities. Follow URL
standards; do not use commas or
spaces. Instead of spaces, use hyphens
between words.

5. Click Save.
6. At the top right corner, click the Edit
button to open the menu, and select
Add Video Gallery.
7. Add a title for the page.
8. To add videos, click the following
for each video you want to add:
To add a new video, click
Upload New.
To search for an existing video,
click Add Existing. This action
searches for videos previously
added to this website.
9. For a new video, enter the title,
description, and sequence number, and
search for an image to go with the
video.
10. For a Brightcove video, enter the
following information:
Brightcove (Video) ID
Brightcove Player ID
Brightcove Player Key
11. For a YouTube video, enter the
YouTube ID. From the YouTube URL,
copy the part after “watch?v=.” For
example, for the YouTube URL
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P9n
UOCJ8rcU, use P9nUOCJ8rcU as the
YouTube ID.
12. Select the video type, and add the
video length in minutes and seconds,
separated by a colon, such as 2:30.
13. To include a download version of
the video, click Add, and enter the
URL, size, and title (label).
14. At the bottom, click Save.

15. To add an existing video, enter the
title of the video, and click the Search
button.
16. Click the circle with the plus sign
(+) to add the video, and then click
Done.
17. When you have added all the
videos for the gallery, at the top click
Save. Then click Done.
18. To preview the page, click ICE to
turn the edit buttons off, and refresh the
page (press F5).

The video gallery has a viewer at the
top. Click a video below the viewer to
watch it.
Creating Forms
You can create forms which will allow a user to fill-in some information and send the information in an
email.
1. To create a form, click the top left
corner to open the menu, and select
New Page from Template.
2. Select the locale, if needed.
Contact Us
3. From the Template list, select
Contact Us.
4. Enter a relative path. This becomes
the last part of the URL for this page.

followed by the title of the page, such
as: /contact-us. Follow URL standards;
do not use commas or spaces. Instead

5. Click Save.
Note: An example of the contact us
form is displayed.
6. At the top right, click the Edit
button to open the menu, and select
Add Contact Us Teaser.
7. For the teaser text, fill in a title or
instructions for the form. This appears
at the top of the form.
8. Add the area email address, or the
address where you want the
completed form sent to.
Note: If desired, you can enter a
default name and subject for the
email.
9. Enter the text for the success (email
sent) message, failure (email not sent)
message, or additional (other)
message.
10. Click Save. Then click Done.

11. Click the top left corner to open
the menu, and select Edit Hidden
Text.
12. Add the following information:
SEO Title: Add the title that
will display in search engines.
Meta Description: Add a short
sentence about this form. This
description displays on a
Google search result.
-contact-usPageTitle: Add a
page title, such as Contact Us.
-contact-usMetaKeywords:
Add words that describe the
content of this page.
contactUs-submit: Change the
wording for the Submit button
on the page, if desired.
13. At the bottom of the page, click
Save.
14. When you are satisfied with the
contact us form, click the Edit button
to open the menu, and select Publish.
15. To add a link to the contact us
form, click Home to return to the
Home page.
16. On the right-side, click the Edit
button for the Contact Us module, and
select Edit Contact Us Links.

17. Edit the URL and title, or click
Add to add a contact us link.
18. Click Save. Then click Done.
Feedback Form
19. On the New Page from Template
page, from the Template list, select
Feedback Form.
20. Enter a relative path. This becomes
the last part of the URL for this page.
Usually it begins with a slash (/) and is
followed by the title of the page, such
as: /feedback-article. Follow URL
standards; do not use commas or
spaces. Instead of spaces, use hyphens
between words.
Note: An example of the feedback
form is displayed.
21. At the top right, click the Edit
button to open the menu, and select
Add Feedback Teaser.

22. Enter the information in the
available fields, similar to the contact
us form.
23. Click Save. Then click Done.
24. Edit the hidden text and publish
the form, similar to the contact us
form.
25. Also similar to the contact us
form, add a link to the feedback form.
You can add the link on a page, or you
can add the link to an article if you
want feedback about a particular
article.
Story Submission Form
26. On the New Page from Template
page, from the Template list, select
Story Submission Form.
27. Enter a relative path. This becomes
the last part of the URL for this page.
Usually it begins with a slash (/) and is
followed by the title of the page, such
as: /story-submission. Follow URL
standards; do not use commas or
spaces. Instead of spaces, use hyphens
between words.
Note: An example of the story
submission form is displayed.
28. At the top right, click the Edit
button to open the menu, and select
Add Story Teaser.

29. Enter the information in the
available fields, similar to the contact
us form.
30. Click Save. Then click Done.
31. Edit the hidden text and publish
the form, similar to the contact us
form.
32. Also similar to the contact us
form, add a link to the story
submission form.
Editing Pages
When editing pages, you can check links or publish and unpublish items on a page.
1. To check for broken links on a page,
at the top, click the Link button, and
then click Start Checking.
2. When the program is done checking
links, click an item, such as broken
links, to view where they are. The
broken links will be highlighted in the
same color as on the checker.

3. To publish and unpublish items on a
page, click the top left corner to open
the menu, and select Page Editor.
Note: All the items on the page will be
displayed with their status.
4. To publish or unpublish an item,
click the check box for the item, and
then click Publish or Unpublish.
5. To delete an item, click the Delete
( ) button. This deletes it from the
system.
6. To download a report for the
selected items, click the Download
( ) button.
Archiving Teasers
When a teaser is no longer needed on the Home page, you can remove it. It will still be available on the
Archive page.
1. On the Home page, click the Edit
button next to a teaser to open the
menu, and then select Remove from
Homepage.
2. On the confirmation message, click
OK.

3. If you want to place a teaser back on
the Home page, on the Archive page,
click the Edit button to open the menu,
and select Show on Homepage.
4. On the confirmation message, click
OK.
Viewing Omniture Statistics
You can view statistics about page views, visits, single access, and average time spent on a page over
various time periods.
1. Click the top left corner to open the
menu, and select View Omniture
Stats.
2. To view the statistics for various
time periods, click a button above, such
as “30 days.”
3. To view various statistics, click an
item below, such as “Visits.”
4. To close the window, click the x in
the upper right corner.
